Scott McClellan or Muhammed Saeed al-Sahaf (Iraqi Information Minister)

The Daily Show had some AWESOME material from McClellan last night; catch the repeat today if you can.

The guy was trying to answer questions about the canned search for WMD and the justification of the war. He must have mentioned "9/11" about a half-dozen times...

Scott couldn't hold a candle to Baghdad Bob, despite Baghdad Bob being his idol.

But, the White House Press Corps holds McClellan quite in contempt. I'm surprised they even bother showing up for press conferences. McClellan is like the pro-sports athlete spewing out inane cliches.

McClellan is pretty damn silly, but nothing beats al-Sahaf's "We have them trapped in their tanks!"

The key is, the Iraqi information minister was saying things so over the top that it was hard for anyone not to laugh let alone take it seriously. The things McClellan says are pretty silly but not silly enough for just over half of our voting population to discredit.

Yeah, it was amusing that he insisted till the end that they were somehow winning. 😛

"There are no American infidels in Baghdad. Never!"

"My feelings - as usual - we will slaughter them all"

whatever happened to Baghdad Bob?

well he is now the Information Minister for the Detroit Red Wings

Hehe, that was my Desktop for awhile. In these parts there are a lot of Russian immigrants(came in early 1900's) and a few friends from that group are huge Wings fans(due to the Russian players at the time). That pic made for a lot of good ribbing! 😀

Here are some gems from Scott just today:

State Department) -- White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan said a report released by the National Intelligence Council (NIC) on long-term global trends supports the Bush administration's strategy in the war on terror.

Speaking to the press January 14, McClellan said the report "confirms that our strategy of staying on the offensive and spreading freedom to win the war on terrorism is the right approach."

The press secretary said the Bush administration is fighting terrorists abroad "so that we don't have to fight them at home," and "by going on the offensive we've been able to liberate [Iraq and Afghanistan]."

According to press reports, the 119-page NIC assessment states that Iraq has replaced Afghanistan as the training ground for the next generation of "professionalized" terrorists.

Iraq provides terrorists "a training ground, a recruitment ground, [and] the opportunity for enhancing technical skills," David Low, the national intelligence officer for transnational threats, was quoted as saying.

"[T]his report is a speculative report about things that could happen in the world, but we welcome the report," McClellan said.

Asked if the 2003 invasion of Iraq made the country conducive for use by terrorists, McClellan said such characterization is "off the mark," and is "a misunderstanding of the war on terrorism."

"That's assuming that terrorists would just be sitting around doing nothing if we weren't staying on the offensive in the war on terrorism," he said.

The site documents the essence of bob. Take note of the treasury of deathless quotes near the bottom.

"In an age of spin, al-Sahaf offers feeling and authenticity. His message is consistent -- unshakeable, in fact, no matter the evidence -- but he commands daily attention by his on-the-spot, invective-rich variations on the theme. His lunatic counterfactual art is more appealing than the banal awfulness of the Reliable Sources. He is a Method actor in a production that will close in a couple of days. He stands superior to truth."
