I've been waiting to add this classic to my DVD collection forever. The prior release was one of the worst DVD transfers ever and I refused to buy it.

But now Goodfellas has been re-released with an all new anamorphic transfer that has been called "stunning" in pre-release reviews. All the unsual stores are pre-selling this at or around $15.99. I just got mine at BB.

FINALLY!

Sweet.. Any deleted scenes?

Here's the extras along with two commentary tracks on the first disc:

The second disc contains four featurettes and the original theatrical trailer. First up is ?Getting Made? which is a 30 minute segment on how the movie went from script to screen and so forth. Scorcese evidently read the book while he was making ?The Color of Money? in 1985. He then collaborated with Nicholas Pigletti to write the screenplay and the rest, as they say, is history. ?Made Man: The GoodFellas Legacy? tells how the movie has inspired some of today?s younger directors, among them: Jon Faverau, Antoine Fuqua, Richard Linklater and Frank Darabont among them. They tell of how brutally realistic the movie was and how it ushered in a new wave of how to make films. We then find ?The Workaday Gangster? which is told by Henry Hill. He tells of the life he had versus the life he has now and how he couldn?t get out of the business. Lastly we find ?Paper is Cheaper? which is a fancy way of showing some storyboard to screen comparisons by Scorcese.

i will be buying this the day it comes out. this movie. now left on my desired dvds list that have not been announced/confirmed are:

'heat' special edition with dts and deleted scenes on as extras. a pacino/deniro commentary added would be monumental. (i hear that a rerelease will come out near 'collateral's dvd release, and that pacino has recorded an interview for it, but i want solid features from the studio dammit!)
'newsradio' (delayed by paul simm's to add more extra's/cast commentaries)
the rest of the man with no name series remastered and restored, 'fist full of dollars' & 'for a few dollars more' (i hear fist full has already been restored, even before the good and the bad got started)

I hear ya! I only have GBU because of this. I would LOVE to have the other two. The transfers that exist now are awful.
