Easy enough to check, just see if it lists the package on the website when you give them your location.

If you are referring to the $30 for 6 months, thats a YMMV because its not documented. I'm guessing thats a retention department deal that the rep gave to the OP.

I called 800 comcast and spoke to a rep. They said they didn't see any 29.99 for 6 month promo for existing customers ... but then the guy said hold on when I mentioned I'd probably have to drop them and go somewhere else ... he look up my account and then found a "Promo" that was available for 29.99 for 6 months for the 8 MB service.

So I got it. Took 10 minutes total on the phone.

I live in Philadelphia, PA for what it is worth.

Good luck ... though I am hoping FIOS comes soon here.

I didnt get bumped to 8mbit but was able to swing a deal at the Kiosk here in Bellis Fair Mall in Bellingham, WA. Spoke with the rep, commented that I have been paying $95 for expanded basic cable + internet for about 2 years now and they keep bumping the price up. I told him I saw they had a few deals for 6 months right now and was interested in seeing what they can do for me so I don't have to keep getting screwed with this whole nearly $100 a month crap. Walked out with the Digital Silver Package + HBO for around $20 for 6 months, along with 6 months of the 6mbit for $19.99. Also lucked out and they had a Motorola digital cable box so had the whole thing setup that night.

Parents tried to get the deal on both but the rep wouldn't let them, only gave them the upgrade to digital silver. Either way, its brought my bill down for 6 months.

Congrats! Hope more people can get in on this in one way or the other!

I've tried chat and phone calls, They can't find $29.99 for 6 month, most of them couldn't find the 8 meg $42.95 upgrade for three months either.

Same me FIOS

Not to crap....but all the cable providers offer LOW prices for the first few months. Then they jack up the rate.
Someone posted that the regular rate is $52.95!!

I pay $24.95 a month for DSL....period (1500/384). Heck, even 3000/768 is cheaper at $39.95. It is a flat rate that will not go up in a few months. There are some benefits to a DSL contract, fixed price. Better deal in the long run, IMO.

I feel this is worthy of a bump -- at the very least you should be able to get the speed upgrade for 3 months at no additional cost to you (see links in first post).

$52.95 is the regular rate for 8800/768. You can get 6600/384 for $42.95, thats twice the download speed of DSL's $39.95 service for only $3 more. Comcast will be increasing the price for cable TV services this year, but internet will remain the same.

This is sorta tempting for me if I could get it at that price though I am not sure if I can get comcast in my new place. We have our own fiber network in the neighborhood and we get internet through isomedia, right now I pay $49.99 a month for 8 down/2 up so that seems like a decent deal.

Man, if it would work I would totally cancell my isomedia for 6 months and use the cheaper comcast though since I don't have any of the equipment it might end up costing me more....

Comcast has a phone number to contact the sales team...they have access to all the promotions the customer service can't see...i lost that phone number and cant find it on their website, anyone know???

The $42.95 price is only when you have cable tv with them, otherwise they tag another $10 or so to the bill.

went into my local office on Fri, and got my 8mb for 19.99 for 3 moths (odd number) and a new free modem at no extra charge, so YMMV this is in Sac, CA

I think Verizon has a better deal/value. ...

Up to 3 Mbps/ 768Kbps...

3mbps? Move out of the Stone Age, my man! 😉

Hell for $45 on cable broadband I'm only getting 4Mbps/384Kbps.

So 3 Mbps/ 768Kbps for $29.95 is a better deal/value in my opinion. Being that most of my downloads only come in at 100 - 150 KB/s anyway.

Got my first bill with the new upgrade today, and it is showing up as $29.99 after all ($52.95 - $22.96 discount). So the deal seems alive for some of us...

Awesome gibster!! My bill won't come until about 2/10, we'll see then. But I'm pretty confident that it'll be $29.99, since I got a confirmation email from the CSR saying that.

got my wish. they must have flipped a switch or something, my speeds are now about 5 times faster. but they sent me a notice saying they are going to raise my rates 🙁

I work for a large cable company and you can get great deals all the time. It actually varies with who you are talking to, be it a sales rep like me, a csr, or retention specialist. Most of the time if you call up and threaten to cancel and tell them you are going to another service they will give you a screaming deal. The funny thing is that most consumers have no clue how big the disparity is between each customers pricing. The best bet is to remember that the squeaky wheel gets the grease and don't be afraid to ask for something better or threaten to go to a competitor. Just my 2 cents...

Nice Deal, just that they limit the download on newsgroup, only included 3 gigs of download per month. I download over 10 gigs a day over the newsgroup. Time Warner also offers the same rate and unlimitted download off newsgroup, and they have super fast news server. Too Bad, I am stucked with Adelphia in my area, when are they gonna be out of busniess??? I heard Adelphia is out of business soon and comcast and time warner will split up the network. I am hoping Time Warner get the portion in my Neighborhood.

I just ordered the 8Mbps service about a week ago... I've been doing some testing, and I'm consistantly getting 10-12Mbps reported on various different speed test sites.

Well worth the price, when it comes with free cable TV also. 😉 Go Comcast.
