This is a plastic POS scooter. You WILL get hurt. The construction is NOT acceptable, and in cheap scooters the handle bars split.
If you are getting your kids a scooter at least get them a good one, like the Razor. Then pick up the Rollerbar from Brookstone that prevents them from bottoming out. I know that Brookstone sells the Razor MS130 for $79.
The razor has aircraft aluminum and is quality WELDED together. Most of the cheap scooters are plastic and are obviously not welded. Plus the bearings in the razor are of much higher quality anyway.
It's not worth an ER visit to save $60 on a scooter.

At my seasonal job @ brookstone we hit 20 mph going down a mall floor.
Trust me there is a difference, we raced them all down the mall after close =)

The $9.99 price on this scooter was apparently a MISPRINT on Macy's part. According to a customer service rep, these scooters were originally $99.99 and were supposed to have been marked down to $69.99, NOT $9.99. *OOPS* 
Being the reputable store that they are, Macy's IS apparently honoring the orders that we placed at the price that they published. Big loss for them, 90% off for us, LOL.

After doing a google search, scooterblade.com comes up. No luck pulling up the page tho-. One of the returns mentions Mioto scooterblade. Just wondering if anyone is familiar with the name Mioto.
i got that scooter, came today! i rode it around for a while. I am 155 pounds and i didn't feel the thing even begin to mess up. It feels like SOLID metal, and actually better quality than the original scooters that one of my cuzin has. It's a really nice scooter for only 9.99. this is a FLAMIN HOT DEAL!1111111111

Woo hoo, got my order confirmation a few days ago. Haven't got that e-mail. Should have 2 on the way. And I didn't even want or need this thing, just couldn't pass up on that price when I saw this post first listed. Sometimes it pays to not wait. And sometimes it doesn't. I wish I hadn't gotten the Plextor from Onvia for $160, I wanted the Antec SX1030 case instead and waiting means now it will cost me an extra $30, and I could have gotten the Iomega from CompUSA for $99 or the TDK (the one I really wanted for less than $150) after rebate. Oh well, how do you learn when to wait and when not to?

My scooters arrived today - seem pretty good for the $9.99 but not worth the "original" price of $70ish. Mine also both have the black foam grip handles, where do you live Kato? Might be able to trade as pink would be all right for my intended gift recipients.
I'm out in the west. Best for me to regrip them with some manly colored ones from the local shop. Red wheels are acceptable for boys.
