Better to base ideas about reality upon observations of said reality, rather than on an ancient book written in a time when people thought that Earth was the center of the Universe, and that the elements were earth, water, fire, and air.

Expanding universe, with a fairly uniform "bubble" of background radiation surrounding it. Possible idea on what could generate that: Some manner of explosion or eruption from a point source object.
There's no more need for a creator to exist for the universe's formation than there is for the formation of a puddle in a rainstorm. No being created the puddle; it simply happened to form based on the properties and events of the environment.

Current ideas about the formation of the universe are far from random.
