Tissue engineering techniques were first developed for medical use and small amounts of edible fish tissue have been grown in research conducted by Nasa.

"With a single cell, you could theoretically produce the world's annual meat supply. And you could do it in a way that's better for the environment and human health.

The new techniques could also provide a dilemma for vegetarians.

If you could grow the meat then we wouldn't have to have these huge factories killing hundreds of animals everyday.

We could have open ranches where people could still have natural alternatives and wouldn't need to eat the horomone injected crap I have to eat today.

Plus artifical stuff would likely be cheaper and could be used to feed so many people in poorer countries.

Would be great to have it done this way. This way you dont have to think about all those poor animals that are being killed everday for our food.

Of course they will...remember all the crap about "franken-corn" and now things are advertised as being totally natural? People are stupid, they don't realize it's the same freaking stuff.

There are hundreds of those ranches in operation today - I own part of one. Maybe you shouldn't sit around waiting for one to come to you.

Ridiculous, cows are very efficient meat growing hosts. Now we are going to build factories to "Grow" meat? what will we feed the cells? will we build factories to produce synthesized "Feed" for the cells to eat

O.k. fine, but all those workers will be required to eat hay and sh!t in a bag to replace the lost manure.
