Science olympiad

I would be surprised if there are no other ATOTers who are competing in, or have competed in, science olympiad in a few events. I'm working on the scrambler and chem lab right now; anybody else involved?

I did it in high school 4 years ago, was pretty fun. I did mission possible, polymer lab, qualitative analysis, and probably some others I'm forgetting

I did tower building and boomilever. Good stuff

Oh yeah, I did towers too as an alternate. Needless to say, it sucked because I basically built it in 2 days with no prior experience.

Last year, one of our teams misinterpreted the minimum size requirements for one of the events (tower or boomilevel I believe) as maximum size requirements, causing the whole device to fit through the whole through which a weight was supposed ot be supported.....needless to say, they didn't do too well.

On a similar note, I got 3rd in state for Robot Ramble rather than first because I read the play area as one inch larger than it actually was so I was still used to the practice play area and I knocked some objects out of bounds.

Yep, I've done Bottle Rocket, Scrambler, Cell Bio, that bungee event, Mission Possible, Practical Data Gathering, and some others. Had lots of fun back in middle school and high school.

They had something like that when I was in early middle school I believe. Think it was 5th and 6th grade. It was just some test to take, 40 questions long. I won the 1st prize medal in 5th grade, and I recall there being a tie in 6th grade.

Got a buncha state medals back in '85 to '87 for Fermi, Qualitative Analysis, Anatomy, can't even remember them all, it's been so long ago. Got 3rd in Computer Programming in the nationals.
