1080p units aren't really a secret. There's a whole slew of them coming later this year. But, there's nothing to watch in 1080p. It's presumed that Blu-Ray and or HD-DVD might be capable of storing 1080p. but it's not a given at this point. Over the air 1080p is just not possible right now. Speaking of HDTVs, I picked up a 50" DLP a couple weeks ago. I love watching stuff on this set. Once you get HD, you will watch some pretty stupid/lame stuff on TV just because it's in HD. I didn't believe that until I had my unit a couple of days. Great stuff.

I haven't watched NYPD blue for at least 4 years and I saw the last two episodes because they were in HD. 🙂

Guess you don't want a new tv then. I still have a 19" tv that I bought in 1982. It still works just fine.

well, we have a 22" RCA from 1982 and we bought a 45" Mitsubishi projection in 1995 thinking that the RCA would go bad soon

it's still running!! RCA made REALLY good TVs back then

however, I can see that the color quality on the projection is going down, and as soon as my parents see it . . .

I could never imagine having a tv that big. I guess when you're poor this kind of stuff doesn't matter because you know that HDTV isn't for you for another 6-8 years.
