Government employees are lazy, overpaid, and almost impossible to get fired while having mandatory guaranteed raises every year, and mandatory overtime pay while also on a salary... all of which simply encourages even more laziness. About time we trim the fat, and start running the government like a well ran business than an inefficient bureacracy.

Good, this is what happens to a normal business. If the budget isn't met then you have to cut costs somewhere else. Now let's see if the legislature is brave enough to make drastic cuts to spending.

MOST of them are covered by union agreements/M.O.U.'s and this is a direct violation of said agreements. Ah-Nold is violating their contracts.
Let these workers shut down state operations for a week or two and see how fast Ah-Nold reverses course on this.

It's just bully-posturing to force the legislature to come up with a budget HE likes by hurting the working people who have nothing to do with any of the bullshit.

While no one likes more taxes, the legslature can only cut so much. It's time to raise the taxes on the wealthy, start charging them the same sales taxes on their expensive boats and such that they buy out of state to avoid paying the same sales tax rate I pay for new cars, time to eliminate some of the "gimmee's" that the wealthy demand (and get) from their Republican lap-dogs.

You must not understand the relationship between the govt and unions. Its not the same as private sector and unions. The govt holds ALL the cards, they merely act like they let the unions play at the table.

Arnold already has LEGAL authority to do what hes doing. State workers who walk out, would face termination. Besides most wont walk out because mose state jobs are extremely cushy. Most arent going to risk their job and future, over something that will likely be fixed before they get paid again.

Hopefully this will encourage some of them to get an education so they can get higher paying jobs.

While he's at it, he should axe the paychecks and pensions of the state legislature.

Bullshit. That would be an authoritarian govenrment, a dictatorship.
Business only looks out for the interest of the business with nothing for the needs of the people.
It is antithetical for business to think of anything but it's own self interests.
More businesses fail every day than governments.
Finally, whose idea of "well run" are we going to use?
That alone requires the same sort of consenus you attempt to circumvent with your "business"model.

What I want to know is why are we in a financial crisis to begin with? It's it the Governor's job to keep the state out of a financial crisis?

The CA FTB specifically targets people who purchase automobiles, boats, and planes out of state for use tax collection and enforcement. Most of the rest of your comment is just patter.

i don't mean literally, but rather to emphasize some concepts present in the business world. If the government treated all of us like a paying clients (which we are), and ran on the principle of efficiency, better service, and better return on human capita, we would all win, and the government would probably have more money too.

I'd say if the government contracted some management consulting firms like McKinsey, or Bain, like alot of foreign governments do to restructure their workforce and projects, you'd see how it really benefits those nations.

so on average, these temp, part time etc jobs, the 22,000 immediate dismissals, were paid $3636/mo or $43k/yr.

wonder what they all did.

Reminds me of Joseph. God interpretted the Pharoah's dream for him about the seven prosperous years followed by 7 years of famine that lay ahead. So Pharoah promoted Joseph to a high office and put him in charge of storing up grain during the good years to give to the people during the lean years.

Also see the parable about the ant and the grasshopper.

Arny inherited a huge debt from Gray Davis, so he cut a bunch of programs, budget broke even, and then the economy tanked.

Awesome. If they are shit jobs, good. Although I rather not have people such as police officers with just min wage. (They count in this budget right?)

well since the democratically controlled cali government isn't going to do anything about illegals..and the cost to the state of educating the children of illegals is massive, somethings gotta give. california is a basket case when it comes to the budget. theres no incentive ot change, too many safe seats. so the legislature just drag their feet, the republicans aren't smart enough to modernize their platforms so that they can take more than the governors seat. you need more than that. of course the voters are rather stubborn too.
