What the fuck! I remember A Clockwork Orange was actually on my 9th grade summer reading list. What the hell is going on in school's these days?

Found the 3 books.

Ender's Game
The Devil's Paintbox
Curtain: Poirot's Last Case

This is the best part though.
State law requires that school administrators must notify local law enforcement officers whenever possible criminal activity is alleged. This is the third time in recent months that police were notified of an alleged incident by a parent before the school district reported it to law enforcement.

Silliness going on in silly town.

What would happen if the bugs from Enders Game went to war with the bugs from Starship Troopers?

That'd be sweet.

From the article it looks like there's probably more to this than just Enders Game.
Yep.
I don't believe it's about not following the review process either. I also don't believe it's about pornography. It's about personalities. Either the teacher has some agenda or the Principal does, maybe both. Policy is just the convenient excuse.
That's the cover story for the school district.
Read the article, he was reading pornographic material off the internet and some idiot parent claimed it was from this book.
Nope. Enders was not mentioned in the police report. The district tossed that out there. But no criminal charges against the teacher and we'll never know the full story. We'll see if he keeps his job.

what the hell. my fiction teacher in highschool read Enders Game to us too. I liked it so much it got me to go out and read the other books in the series on my own accord.

Honestly, considering the parent filed a police report against the teacher for spreading pornographic material I think the issue was pornography and that the school board does not want to appear to be harboring a teacher who spreads pornography.

In that case, sex education classes should be declared porn.

From Karen Dailey.

Yes, you can ask for it at Aiken Public Safety. Also, you are correct, the book was not mentioned in the report. The school board officials told us the name of the book. I'm away from my desk, but I can send you the incident report number when I have it in hand. You can go to Aiken Public Safety, give them the case number and get the report.

Karen

I'll update when/if I get the report.

Feels left out because he hasn't read the Ender's Game series.
But I got to read the last Sword of Truth book before this summer. I bought it almost a year ago when it came out and it's been sitting on my bookshelf gathering dust.

Time to turn off the TV and read for an hour each night.

School covering their ass with the book story.

I do not fucking understand the mentality of schools/parents.

Kids get exposed to all kinds of things, hell they even get exposed to death pretty often. This is what happens in life. What next? Not allowing children to play outside.. as it may cause skin cancer in the future? 🙄

That will only lead to rickets...

Kid was probably caught saying something he/she shouldn't have, and blamed it on the teacher. Corroborating stories from other kids?

Don't bother unless Valentine's affection for her brother Ender is considered porn.
Stuff like that makes me think of what I read about some of the censorship wackiness surrounding Reboot. (An older computer animated cartoon show.)

The censors insisted that the show's creators edit a scene where a child character's older sister kisses his cheek as she's singing to him on his birthday. Their reason was that such a thing would be encouraging incest. 😵

Christian side-hug for your siblings, yo.
