i find it funny when people say i'm spoiled for not having to pay my own way through college. i'll definately be paying for my kid's college education, so it's not like i'm escaping the 'college costs' in my lifetime. :)

I don't think you're spoiled.... I think you should just die of cancer to make it fair.

Mine was about 12K 3 years ago. I've sacrificed some discretionary spending the last couple of years to beat that down, and barring any disaster it will be paid off this December.

9k student loans. Making $35k right now(co-op and taking 1 class). Graduating in Dec and I should be getting $50k or so. I was going to pay the loan off this semester, but I totaled my car and decided to just throw down for a $20k sports car. :) I don't have to pay the loans back til June and the interest is 2.xx%. :)

Aren't you one of the guys that admitted to crapping himself? If so, student loans would be the least of your concerns, so I'm glad your parents gave you one less thing to worry about.

People should also state how much they currently make or hope to make when out of college, this should be interesting...

I finally graduated last August 2003... I currently make $72,000... I worked throughout college though... and took a couple years off in the middle.

Pretty good Max. I make 50K (just got an offer for 55 + 5 signing bonus, but will turn it down cuz don't want to commute an 1.5 each way) and have 42K in debt... although that number will be going up once I get accepted for my master's in Phys Therapy in 2 years or so...

$0. I already paid it all off ($20k initially). I officially have zero debt 2 years out of school.

First degree was $19,000 CAD ($14,000 USD) for a 5 year program @ 12.5% interest. (Scholarships paid for all of my education ++ a bit of spending, however the cost of living is very high in Vancouver Canada)

Second degree was $16,000 CAD ($12,000 USD) for a 2 year program @ 9.5% interest.

I?m now owing $14,000 CAD ($10,000 USD) @ 8.5% interest.

I used to think that I will never pay off my school debt. When I got my loan cheque I was laughing while thinking "suckers!".

But I paid it off on the fifth year after I left school.

$0 now...I had about 10K out of college but payed it off in the first 2 years working. Was very satisfying to get rid of that debt.

man...you guys have some low debt.

mine is 190k. :Q

don't even ask what my gf's is....

suffice it to say, i'll be paying it off until i'm 58. :D

Did you go to business/med/law/etc. school?

I think I might be around 125k when I'm done with everything.

went to private optometry school out of state (extra living costs add up). only had about 10k undergrad. my gf went to the school but had slightly more undergrad debt.

luckily interest rates are lowest in history at 2.82% and i already consolidated with a few incentives to drop it 1-1.5% more after 1 yr.....still, alot of damn money.
