Anyone try this (Schick's 5 blader)

http://www.schickhydro.com/

Ok, the traditional razor guys will jump in and tell us to go to classicshaving.com or use a Merkur blade, I'm just curious how this works?

My Gillette Fusion cartridges pack from Costco is running out of blades and I managed to get a free sample of the Hydro coming in. Anyone impressed by this?

Yes and since my ripoff Gillette cartridges are out, I may consider a new brand or perhaps going to cheaper blades. Not sure what I want yet, but while I'm waiting for the new Gillette razor to come out, I'll toy with my pile of free Schick razors I've accumulated in the years. I've got like 4 Quattros and one of the beard trimming ones too. Should last me a bit as i only shave twice a week.

I don't buy razor blades that often and I realize it's a ridiculous industry too. My Mach 3 cartridges from Costco lasted me for YEARS even though my roommates from college stole a bunch too. That's when I decided "Hey I'll try out the Fusion"

I was looking at replacing my Gilette fusion too, but this Schick hydro is not it. This is an absolutely dreadful product. The blades comes with an undesired gooey lubricant that stick to you face. It's just disgusting. Thanks but no thanks.

I just found out Schick is a subsidiary of Energizer.
And that Energizer Holdings was spun-off from the company behind Purina before that company was bought by Nestle.

WTH, whole world of WTHs in terms of products and holdings. None of that makes sense, but I find it comical and good to know. :D

Before I switched to DE :)P), I never liked the Schicks compared to Gillette. For some reason the Gillettes seemed to have a smoother motion for me. I also liked the Mach3 more than the Fusion. IMO, the extra blades just get clogged more easily.

more blades just mean more things to get clogged. its not a better shave either.

but meh whatever a person likes is what they should use.

Yeah. I think maybe they work better (clog less) for people with fine facial hair. I'm not one of those people.

Fusion feels like it cuts a little easier than the mach 3 for me. Clogging is definitely an issue though, but my facial hair isn't uber thick as I'm Asian, so I guess it's not a killer. Cleaning the fusion is annoying though.

Don't know if I have a mach 3 blade left.. maybe I saved 1 so I can try a comparo tomorrow.

i have very fine facial hair. My DE is t he best i have used then close (very close) is the mach 3. but then you add in the cost my DE blows the mach 3 away.

i try nearly every new one that comes out (well nto the one that vibrated). nothing has come close to the mach 3.

duel-edge razor, safety razor etc. its the type of razor that your father adn grandfather most likely used.

blades are anywhere from $.03-.10 each. The razor itself is a little expensive. but well worth it.

I have a used Gem Jr (single blade) that i love that was made in like 1940 or so

I never had any luck with Schicks. The heads are too big and clunky to get a decent shave.
