I like them. I first got a 42" LCD several years ago (when $2000 was a 'bargain price' for this), and most recently got a 27" LCD for the PC. It's a great 'sweet spot' for value.
 
I purchased a 40" 1080p LCD in May of 2009 and it has been great. I think the PQ is just as good as my brother's Panny 42" 1080p plasma.

I have a 32" 1080p LCD TV from sceptre. Works pretty well, horrible black levels though, and the tuner sometimes freezes up when changing channels, but I mainly just have it hooked up to my media center, a task for which it works great.
 
i had a 15" sceptre monitor in 1999ish. I remember I used to play Asheron's Call and the monitor was so cheap and dark I couldn't play when it was ingame night time. All I could see was my bright orange helmet, everything else was pitch black lol
