The specs seem to be contradictory though. In the description its listed as 1200:1 contrast, while in the specs its listed as 1000:1. Brightness is mentioned in some places as 550 and in others its 500. Still a good deal, but that brightness number is rather low and this tv certianly doesn't do 1080p or 1080i.

not really, its mixed. 1080x1920 looks better on low movement images, it just has a lot more pixels. but yes when theres movement the interlacing screws it up.

these specs are very suspect...

the X37SV-Naga is a 1080p model...

link

so which is it, is it the naga or komodo model?

If naga, this deal kicks ass because newegg has it right now for $1,500...

hmmmmmmm, maybe I should make a trip to my local Costco, anyone know if they have these in stores? That would be a helluva a deal, 37" 1080P for $999.

Well it clearly says Komodo on Costco's website, as well as matching the pictures and specs listed for the Komodo on Sceptre's website, so I would assume it is the Komodo model. Not really sure where you're getting any indication its the Naga.

You can't even find the 37" Naga on Costco's website anymore, so its either sold out or they stopped carrying it or something. Maybe you can get lucky and nab one for $999 locally, but the deal is without a doubt for the Komodo model.

yeah, looks like cosco sales cheaper Komodo model that comes with 1 mp LCD panel instead as Naga comes with 2 mp panel that is good for PC up to 1920x1080 native res.

if you don't care about PC usage then that is hot item, otherwise it's useless LCD at all - IMHO.

Komodo is 1,366 x 768 res = 1049088 pixels
Naga is 1920 x 1080 res = 2073600 pixels

Now, what would you do on PC with 1,366 x 768 res monitor?
Play game at 768 lines? Yes, it would be fast, but how it would look?

Any way it's just IMHO.

p.s. I went with 42" Naga and was refering my friend to that deal, but then it came out as 1 mp LCD, so I warn him to hold off this TV.
p.p.s. before Costco sold 37" Naga that was 2 mp LCD and nice as PC monitor - now they substituted it to 1 mb LCD. Just think how many people will be angry getting this LCD and after connecting to PC find out about 768 limit in hard way!!!!

well kiddo, when I was your age we gamed at 800x600 and liked it. 1366x768 is a gorgeous resolution, thats higher then your fancy xbox360's and PS3's. Those are kicking it at 1280x720. So yes, 768 is more then enough in fact it's quite high and will put any console to shame. Don't forget that 50% of the monitors out there run at 1024x768.

Nope. That's not quite how it works. It accepts a 1080i source and then downconverts it. Think about that for a second. It is getting 1080 lines at 30/second. That does not mean it looks about the same as 540p. 1080i for slow moving images looks better than 720p. For fast moving images, 720p looks a little better, but that's mainly for things like sports. In movies, I still prefer 1080i.

I think most tvs convert 1080i to 768p, by simply compressing it to 768i and then upconverting what remains to 768p That's at least how it looks. Again, think about how you would use 30 alternating frames every second to generate 60 frames every second. Having extra lines doesn't really help you that much for the conversion, because every 1/60 of a second you only have half the image. Using the extra lines from the next frame or the previous would just create motion blur.

Since most broadcasts are 1080i, this is something to think about.

I would take a guess and say that it is definaletly not the 37" since all signs point to the komodo and not the naga.
