hey,
so I missed out on the westinghouse lcd tv's teh 37 for 1199 and the 42 for 1499. what do you guys think of this tv.

With Costco's warranties that's an awesome deal! However if you're not anxious to get one yet I'd wait a few months as I'm doing as these will continue to come down in price not to mention the used market will develop to a great extent for them. Good deal none the less!

not a bad deal, I think Westy's 32" is $999; so 5" more and a built in tuner seems like a super buy.

There's no Costco anywhere near you? They're usually everywhere and most of the time they have the same prices in store (even though sometimes it takes a while for them to get there).

With LCD TV prices coming down the way they have been, two months from now we are going to have a totally different market. I am just guessing, but it is a long enough wait that new models might be introduced in time for the new football season and we are going to see plenty of sale/clearance opportunities.

37" Syntax Olevia is available at Target.com at $1080 AC or even less with a Citi CC discount practically any time.

I don't think it has a built in tuner...does it? The specs dont' seem to show that it has a tuner.

This isn't compareable to the Westinghouse LCD's. It's not 1080p nor is it easily connected to a computer.

Id wait for the 1080P model to come down in price or maybe there might be a sale on the westy's again for july 4. I hoping for that. I wish i could've gotten in on the $1199 deal

im kinda thinking that i would rather get this than the westy. primarily because the westys are kinda hit and miss quality wise and you get a one year warranty max at best buy etc..

sceptre ... its costco!

besides 720p is good enough for awhile.

I'm sure most people don't buy monitors to use for less than a year or so. There's no reason to gimp yourself with 720p.

if your only buying it as a tv and for console games you will be set, however web browsing on this thing will be painfull.

1.) Vertical resolution is a little low. Web pages as they are now are more designed with vertical resolution in mind than widescreen. I've been using a monitor with 800 lines of vertical resolution lately and its not the best for web browsing (especially ones with lots of big borders like AT).

2.) It'd be pretty good.

If they knocked $200 off and gave me only 480P I would take it. Resolution is meaningless if you are using it as a TV. You need to be like 4 feet away to tell the difference at this size, my apartment isn't that cramped.
