Gremlins and Monster House are good suggestions. I think the 50's cartoon The Legend of Sleepy Hollow would be a good choice too, but it's not really scary and is only 34 minutes long.
 
How about the old Abbott and Costello movies?
Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstien and Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy.

I haven't seen them recently, but I think they were a little scary. More funny than scary, but still....

little shop of horrors is good, but it has some content and language thats not great for kids
(like the slutty girl, lots of innuendo, and some nasty language from the plant)
