I was scrounging for info once and found this chick on there that I liked. I met her out at a bar and had had a few drinks..

For public records? Several sources. Oregon DMV sells names and addresses for income, if you didn't know that already. Most DMV's do. Court records are also available to the public.
Real estate records? The one and only Metroscan. They gather and sell the information from all the major public land records in the US, getting most of their information from title companies.
If an individual wanted to look it up personally, just head on down to the county courthouse.

Interestingly enough, my roommate is not listed.

His last name is quite uncommon, & he is absolutely paranoid about giving out his personal info.

Did a search on his last name, pulled up several people in Oregon. One of them was his brother, but my roommate is not to be found.

Guess his paranoia paid off.

Interesting. When I originally opened my Yahoo mail account, I lied about my name and age. Later though, I bought from a Yahoo store (svcompucycle) and had to provide my correct info. Hmm.... :|

edit: I think it's more likely that they get their info from a variety of sources.

But my parents don't have Yahoo accounts... maybe its a combination of Yahoo and DMV... and it has my full middle name... i never put my fill middle name anywhere...

Maybe yours, not mine. My Yahoo Mail account has a totally false name and address and when I enter that info nothing comes up.
