I read this as "cat on lcd" and my only question was how long did he balance himself on top of it.

Animal testing in general is necessary to make advancements people take for granted.

Amen. How else would we know that inhaling burning styrofoam is bad without trying it ourselves? Not sure that the burner on the stove has cooled off yet? That's why you have a house cat.

LSD is essentially non-toxic (potatoes have a lower LD50) and can cause no physical harm to a cat or a scientist. In fact scientists did ingest large quantities of LSD for experimental purposes.

Ok, then, instead of LSD injected into his eyeball, which apparently can't be fatal, let's make it sulfuric acid. Will sulfuric acid injected into his eyeball kill him, or is that also non-fatal? Please, correct me if I am wrong, it's not like I want to be coveying a general idea or anything, by all means I want it to be scientifically sound....

😛

i think that's pretty cruel. the cat is clearly in deep distress... utter terror and shock. there are plenty of people that can't handle an LSD experience and find it deeply distressing, even when they know what is going on. this isn't a bash on the substance, just the choice to give it to an animal that's smart enough to remember the experience and to have an emotional reaction to it.

its an old video obviously. we don't know the context or reason behind it.

Man, this is just sick. I only saw like 5 seconds of it and turned it off. I'd like to personally beat the guy in the face with a brick that did this.

Speaking of which - did you see that old video where they study the effect of beating a cat in the face with a brick?

I wonder what dose they gave it. I could see the scientists giving a cat a couple of dozen doses just to see what happens. Considering the average human brain weighs between 1 and 1.5 kilograms, while the average cat brain weighs 30 grams, the human brain on average is between 33.3... and 50 times larger than a cat brain. So 1 dose could be about the same as 33 to 50 doses to a cat. 10 doses? Up to 500 doses. 20? 1,000. etc.

That's a lot of LSD.

How about dogs? Cats are too cute. But one of those annoying small dogs that never quits its yappin...

I have cats, like animals, and hate the idea of this.

That being said, how many of you would give up the advancements made by testing stuff on animals? I bet not many..

It is a shame that this is tested on animals, but would I kill 1,000,000 cute cats if it could save one human life.?

Yes ..

Drugs are dosed based on serum concentrations, not the relative weight of affected organs 😉

This cat had a bad lcd trip. Besides flashbacks, it would have bounced back. There are animals that are intentionally given cancer and AIDS etc. you name it every day. That is a fact of life.
In a hypothetical situation I would personally club to death 10,000 kittens as best I could until my arm fell off if it meant saving the life of a family member. At least the testing has a purpose.

dxkj beat me to it and trumped me by 990,000 cute cats

I think they should have followed this experiment by showing the "scientist" in that box after he received three times the fatal dose of LSD via eyeball injection.

:|

they should have done it to that chef in the "cut a half of the fish and keep it alive" video too.

its sad, but how is this any worse than something like... keeping chickens caged their entire lives, till they cant provide us with eggs then we juss kill em

or just about any example for any food(s) we eat

yeah because that makes sense...
you don't like the fact that they gave the cat lsd but you'll condone beating the guy's face in with a brick...

Don't really understand THAT...

Yes ..

You say that, but I don't believe you. There are a lot of things you could do a lot easier than killing one million cats that WOULD save a human life but I bet you are not doing them...

Yeah we should show our appreciation and keep them caged until they die of old age.

my friend's cat didn't act like that when he fed it acid...he took a hit of blotter and put it on his tongue for a second before giving it to the cat...it just sat and stared out the window for about an hour, then chased around invisible things that only it could see, before finally going to sleep for a while....it's still just fine today

they must have fed that cat a metric fvckton of lsd for that to happen

im not sure what i'm feeling as a result of this. when i was younger i think i would have been far more upset over these tests but i feel like i've become numb-er to this stuff as i've grown older

That's because the dude down the block ripped you guys off. It wasn't acid, it was just a piece of paper from the inside cover of a Danielle Steele novel.
