Ju-On The Grudge 2

You'll either find it scary as ******, like I did, or find it incredibly stupid.

Other good ones:
The Thing
The Shining
In The Mouth of Madness
Event Horizon

Growing up it was nightmare on elm strett. now at age 24 it is The Ring, there is no movie that i find creepier, how slow everything moves, the events, the sudden mages, man scary. i can't watch it alone

I saw The Blair Witch Project in a theater that had one other person, so that added to the freaked-out-osity.
The first time I saw Alien I also shat a brick, being eight years old at the time.
The Exorcist also did some long-term damage to my psyche.

Other than that... I've been scared by movies, sure. But I remember those; that tells me that they had something extra going for them.

The movie I'm talking about with the dead scissor chick isn't Evil Dead.

Anyway, rewatched In the Mouth of Madness yesterday, I didn't find it uber-scary or anything, but it's one of the very few horror movies that's a HORROR movie instead of some piece of crap based on Stephen King books or a slasher flick. Event Horizon was alright... but not anywhere near Mouth in terms of Horror, though.

"Do you read Sutter Kane?"

Heh - my wife was pissed at me for weeks for "making her" sit through The Ring. She refused to watch TV alone at night for months.

I watched the Exorcist for the first time about 6 months ago with a bunch of my friends, and it didn't scare any of us. Maybe it's because we had different expectations than what it ended up being *shrugs*

The Ring scared the crap out of me though 😛

The Blair Witch Project - I know a lot of people hated it, but I thought it was pretty creepy, partially because it could have been a witch, or it could have been a normal guy behind it. I've heard second hand from the friend of an FBI guy that there are more cases than you think where people get axe-murdered (or whatever) when camping out.

There was also this low budget horror movie from the 80s, I don't know what it was called, but these college students buy this house in the middle of nowhere to use as a sorority or fraternity house. The house is haunted, of course, and kills or possess them. One person tried to go out a window, and the house somehow impales them with a piece of glass. One girl is killed and one of the surviving guys doesn't know, you see her pull a pair of scissors from out of her back and try to stab him when his back is turned.

hmm that movie sounds familer.

I love good cheesy horror movies. about the only one that really scarred me was the shinning. man that movie was great.

Yeah, The Exorcist, especially considering the time it came out. When it originally came out it was sop over the top and groundbreaking that you literally had people seeking couseling just because of that movie.....

Probably the homade porn my wife's friend gave us back instead of the tape of Dateline we let her borrow.

It could be worse. it could have been your wife's mother that gave you homemade porn!

The original Alien is quite scary yes... alot of suspense all the time..

I didnt get to see The exorcist when it first came out so cant comment on that... by the time I saw it I actually laughed😕

Well its really hard to find a "terror" movie.. most movies have that "OMG WTF" scene but other then that its more comedy than anything else... thus scary movie was born lol

Edit - Oh forgot the mention, Terminator 1 scared the sh!t out of me when I first saw it.. specially at the end when he becomes a robot, and well I always had trouble watching the movie when I was little..
