Scariest movie ever? What is it

Supposed-to-be-scary movies never scare me at all. However, Blair Witch Project scared fvck out of me.
I even had hard time breathing..
I think it's because I grew up in a city of 14 million population. Being in a forest in the dark?? That's the scariest thing I can ever think of.

another vote for event horizon.

It's funny how that movie got no rave reviews, no huge publicity, yet it still sticks out for many of us that have seen it as being damn scary!

I just happened to watch it on HBO one night and I couldnt sleep afterwards.....at all.

Two stand out for me and both have the same premise. The Thing and The Shining. Both feature groups of people isolated from help in a frigid, remote location with something "stalking" them. The Shining is so damn creepy but I love to see it late at night.
The Thing has always been one of my favorite movies of all times.

There's time and money I wished I could get back.

If I could get that money back, I'd invest in a time-machine. Then I'd go back in time and kill the dumbasses that made that movie before they even had the stupid idea in the first place. :|

Ju-on saw this last night....freaking scary...an american remake is going to be released around halloween

 

Blair Witch Project scared the shiite muslims out of me, living in a small town...near a wooded area - oh yeah, i was freaked for weeks
i also had a headache for the next 8 hours :\

The Ring didn't scare me that much...which is odd cuz i'm a big wuss when it comes to scary movies.

Blair Witch didnt do it for me. Course, I was double punched on that one. Went drunk, AND got stuck in the FRONT ROW. It was more scary trying to figure out if I was going to blow chunks or not from watchin the camera bob around.

Hrmm the movie that I remember being scariest when I first watched it would definately be the Exorcist. Granted I was 8 years old at the time.

My opinion is skewed. When i was 6 or 7 my mom went out for the evening and left with with a babysitter. Well, said sitter decided to watch The Exorcist at like 9 at night while I was "asleep" on the couch.
Folks, The Exorcist is NOT something a kid at age 7 should watch.
So, I vote The Exorcist.

Hah, welcome to the 'Those who saw Exorcist when they were really young... causing all other movies to not be scary' club.

That's the problem. Nothing will ever compare to that experience and so I never get scared by anything anymore. I find myself looking for more plot-driven horror movies like Psycho, The Others, etc. nowadays.

Heck, I saw the re release of that movie and it scared the shiates outta me and I'm an adult.
