i always...always get stuck being the leader in haunted houses. Last time i was back in line and guy up front had a cane and couldnt walk well...so of course his woman asks if i would lead.
i don't mind except i hate not finding the exits. i always end up walking through a curtain into the back stage area. last time i did that the worker asked if i was taking a shortcut. lol

Why the hell does everyone form a conga line when they get scared?

It might be completely dark until they hit that point, I know I usually have to hold onto the person in front of me in those things.

The haunted houses I've been through, have all been pretty much like that.
Super dark, and/or cramped.
But the main reason: every place I've been to has told you to form a line and hold on to the person in front of you.

Is this for real? By the time I was 12 haunted houses were no longer scary. I though they were about as exciting as waiting in line at grocery store.

OMG Memories. Does anyoe live there? I went there YEARS ago. It is ONE scary haunted house. The deal was if you yelled "Nightmare" (the name of the place) an old guy flicked on the lights, and your "tour" was over. As you left he then updated a tote board that advertised how many people didnt make it through. It was pure magic. I would love to know if they still "tally" the drop-outs.
I walked my 14 year old son (at the time) through it. TOLD him I dot care if he crawls in my hip pocket.... NO SCREAMING Nightmare. He made it....
The group before us some girl FREAKED ad screamed Nightmare at the top of her lungs repeatedly. And we watched as the tote board got update as the group of 6 were escorted out.

Ahhhhh Memories....

This^

I have wondered this exact thing

the camera is catching a millisecond of reaction. This is base instinct.

a door slamming loudly behind you will produce the same reaction in anyone, you just may not realize it.

Your face will do some odd twitches that you never notice. Then again...I think everyone has seen that show by now, right?
