Outpost has this LCD 17" monitor for 599 with a $70 MIR Its the Scanport GEM. This is as far as i can tell the cheapest you can find a Good quality 17" lcd and here's the kicker.......
FREE SPEAKERS built right into the monitor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

isnt it great?

if anyoneis interested in this.....here is another site where this monitor is sold with more than the infamously vague outpost descriptions Specs

LCD monitor? I thought this was a speakers deal...oh the speakers are built into the monitor, and they are free... let me buy 2 then!

ok, ok, the speakers thing was a joke, but someone made a post that they wanted to know where to find a good deal on speakers.....

anyway, i thought the monitor was going for a pretty good price, but i dont know how much longer the rebate is good for....

MINE WILL BE HERE IN 2-3 DAYS!!🙂

VaG: now i know you cant sit there and tell me that you wouldnt like it if your speakers were attached to A 17" FLAT PANEL LCD!!! Im talking less than 5 " deep! its a sweet monitor,

and hey, is free speakers not a hot deal?

but anyway...this is all in fun im just jokin around I appologize to everyone about the wrongly titled post😀

I dunon what he will say, but I can say that I will sit here and tell you that all day if you want 🙂 Speakers built into a monitor are some of the crappiest you can get... about the same as $10 labtec crap. You can do FAR better picking up a pair of $5 headphones if you are too cheap to buy decent speakers 🙂

yikes a 17 inch LCD that only does 1024x768? I'd hardly say that qualifies as "good quality"
oh yea and after going to the scanport site this ah heck has a 50ms response time and 300:1 contrast ratio. This monitor isn't even good enough for watching DivX rips on.

I hate to rag on your deal, but its a horrible monitor, I'd hate to see anyone buy this. If you want a good 17 inch LCD get a Compaq TFT7020 at an educational price (find someone that goes to college or something) $645-660 and its 17.1 inch viewable, 25ms response time, 400:1 contrast ratio, Digital and analogue plugs, and OOH!! even has speakers inside

I own one and its sweet, I'm saving up for a 2nd one already.....once I get my Gainward Ti4600 with dual DVI out capability that is....
oh yea and for you guys not familiar with compaq education pricing, it comes with free 2nday air shipping, and next day air shipping is a free upgrade! and theres no tax. This monitor is normally $800, plus shipping, AND tax. So figure modest shipping and tax it'll cost you $850 retail, roughly $200 saving for educational price.

max res=1280x 1024
response time= 30 rising 20 falling
75hz frame frequency
price= ~$150 cheaper
specs look pretty decent to me!

I'm not an LCD monitor guru, but wouldn't 30ms rising + 20ms falling just be a deceptive way of saying 50ms?

Also, an LCD display will have a "native" resolution, and all the other resolutions it can do, will look really really bad. This monitor appears to be 1024x768. To me, it would actually be worse if it were 1280x1024, because that is not a correct aspect ratio, unlike 1280x960.

It is GemStar. The monitor will say Gem but the actual company name is GemStar. It is odd but weve seen odder than this.
Oh sorry forgot to give the site. Gem LCD monitor link

Boy I can't spell today. I had scene for seen. anyway Gem has a star behind it on the monitors and the companies are 3g and scanport. In regular monitors these are workhorses which keep going and going but are not for gaming. I do not know to much about the LCD monitors though. also You really need to edit your title. The little built in speakers mean nothing to most of us its the monitor that is of interest and the main item in your post yet you forgot to mention it.
