Hello. My dad runs a small business from home and he was interested in finding a printer or scanner that has the ability to scan large quantities of papers. He has a bunch of receipts on normal letter size and was wondering if there was a device to put a stack of them and scan all of them automatically instead of doing it one at a time. Thanks!

Basically you need a scanner with an automatic document feeder (ADF). Surprisingly, the cheapest way to get one of those is to buy a copier. Those can usually scan to PDF and then email it to you.

I work with OCE VarioPrint 2110's all day long, we run about 8 of them at the moment and they scan really nicely :D

I noticed the ScanSnap S1300 can only do 10 pages at a time. Is there any way you can do more then that maybe like 20-50 pages at a time.

I have a 10 year old scanner Cannon DR-3080CII. Double Sided Pass Through scanning with a sheet feeder. It was expensive when it was new. A lot depends on what you want to do, like OCR conversion, and what file type you plan on using, and how and where you are storing the files. They do not make these scanners anymore, but they probably have something newer, faster, that produces better images.

I would like to produce a word document at the best case scenario. If not then a pdf will be okay since it will be a copy. I believe the scan snap has the ability to do that.

I dont need OCR. I need a scanner that is able to take a large volume of receipts and scan them automatically and put them in pdf or word doc format

I love my fujitsu scansnap. Had it for like 5 years with no problems and it is fast.

I heard the Hp is slow. How fast in the scansnap? I guess you pay more because it is a much faster device. But the other gagets on the hp are nice and the cheaper cost. I just wonder how slow it is.

It is pretty fast, depending on the quality you choose. Another thing that I like is that is really small so it doesn't take up much space. I hate everything and I love this scanner.

Just read all the reviews on Amazon and Newegg about the Fujitsu Scansnap. Get the model that includes Adobe Acrobat Standard, latest version. I picked up a Scansnap a few years ago for around 400 bucks. It's incredible. Life changing. It does duplex or single sided scanning. It does OCR on the fly and then you can convert the document to word if that's what you want to do. That and a hefty shredder, and we've been getting rid of boxes of old papers that we don't want to store any more. I used to have an older hp scanner with sheet feeder, and it was adequate while it lasted, but it was bulky and way slower. Anyway, I'd seriously check it out. A niche product that works.
