Scanning bank/credit card statements

One of my new year's resolution is to keep track of my spending by using quicken. also, with my new business up and running i want to be able to scan bank statements and stuff as my bank doesnt keep them for too long. I have a scanner, but wasnt sure how one should go about scanning and keeping an archive. in the past i saved the images as a JPEG or TIFF. How can i go about making them PDF? But isnt PDF bigger in size?

PDF maker: CutePDF. It's pretty much the same as PDF955, but without the nag popup. OpenOffice also has an option to export as PDF now.

The photocopier at my office does it on the fly, not sure if a Kinkos or something like that would have that capability. That would make it a lot easier to do multi-page documents (and keep them in the same PDF file)

I use Papeprort 10, It oraganizes copies and converts with a few mouse clicks;
