Scanner problem - bad picture - all in one - MFP HP

Hello,

I am on my third different all-in-one scanner/printer/copier/fax. I tried the Epson cx4600, the Canon mp-390 and now the HP2355 and had the same problem with all of them. The printer works fine, puts out great pictures. When I scan pictures, the output going back to the application looks terrible. It's full of lines of static. I think it's something wrong with my video card, some sort of incompatibility. I have a GeForce 5700, so it's not obsolete. Has anyone else had problems like this that can help?

Thanks,
Jimmybock

Some applications can't deal directly with full color output from scanners (some fax programs come to mind) you have to swith to B&W doc or B&W photo when scanning for those programs. There is a color fax program out there that can handle color scans directly (it's from BlackIce) and they have a free trial version that you can download. Or you may have to crank back the bit depth or resolution of the color scans to 24 bits or less.
