I worked at a grocery store many, many years ago and when a bag of oreos was damaged, they would be put in the breakroom for anyone to eat. Some guys used to open the cookie up, hollow out the middle of the cream and put either mustard or ketchup in the hollow, and put the cookie back together and back in the pack.

The good old days of being immature. :D

How problems on the weekend come down to fucking Oreos?

I just bought the kids a couple packs of Mega and was done with it. They are limited edition though.

None of the children ever bitched about double stuff either, but they did eat the Mega ones first even though we had double stuff left.

It's dishonest. You shouldn't have to worry about being fucked over in a first world grocery store. Companies that use dishonest packaging shouldn't be patronized to the extent possible.

Virtually all solid goods are sold by weight. Why the fuck does the package size matter?

16 oz is still a pound, whether it's wrapped in shrink wrap or in a 10' by 10' box.

God damn, some people just like to bitch about everything.

Because they put the shit in the exact same size package, and charge the same price. It's the same as putting 18 cigarettes into a standard package, with a cardboard spacer. Just because they put 18 Class A Cigarettes in small print on the side doesn't justify the deception.

They aren't that good anyway. The original ratio is best. You see that a lot with products. They increase the size to appeal to gluttonous consumers, and ruin what made it special in the first place.
true that.
I never ate oreos but there are similar things here. I love the ones with crunchy ovomaltine cream in them. Or even just plain old chocolate cream.

If you are too oblivious to notice the reduction of the number of cigarettes in a pack you would be too oblivious to notice the change in a pack size. This also applies to virtually every product sold.

Bullshit. It's unbelievable the corporate cock ATOT sucks. Companies can do no wrong, and it's the stupid consumer's fault for not treating them with skepticism you'd give to a ghetto pusher.

You can't tell how many cigarettes are in a pack until you open it. The pack is the same size it's always been, so you go with the expectation that the contents are the way they've always been. It's a hidden price increase. They don't have the integrity to just raise the price, so they hide it with packaging tricks.

....

So your complaint is that because you have to read to distinquish that you're only buying 3oz worth of cigarettes instead of 4oz worth of cigarettes, every employee of every company should be thrown in prison for theft?

You're a fucking idiot.

Your refusing to read the container to ascertain how much you're buying is your own problem, not ours.

Hell, I pretty much only buy the best price per unit (whether that be weight or volume or whatever it's measured in.) That requires me to do *gasp* MATH when I shop. HOLY FUCKING SHIT THESE ASSHOLE COMPANIES EXPECT ME TO THINK FOR MYSELF WHEN I SHOP!?!?!?! WTF! WHAT ABOUT THE POOR HANDICAPPED MINORITIES THAT CAN'T DO MATH!?! COMPANIES ARE RACIST!

BTW, the last few lines of the above paragraph...that's pretty much what you sound like.

You, sir, are the problem with society. No personal responsibility.

Everything is everyone else's fault and everyone else is supposed to think for you.

I hope you enjoy your food stamps. I'll make sure the department sends a couple extra dollars next month so you don't have to worry about accidentally buying the smaller package.

Fucking idiot.

just because they are called "double stuffed oreos" doesn't mean they are claiming it has exactly 2 times the amount of cream in it. they could be called "gazillion stuffed oreos" and still have the same in it.

i can't believe this is a news article. any kid who has ever eaten oreos should have already came to this conclusion, by taking 2 regular oreos and taking 1 side off of each, and making their own REAL "double stuffed" oreo. it's obvious that doing that is a lot more than buying a double stuffed oreo.

I don't consider myself a corporate beautiful being, just a smart consumer. I don't deny companies prey on ignorance, but ignorance is something so easily cured, I cannot feel sympathy for those who refuse to educate themselves.

Now Blackwater robbing US treasury dollars during a pointless war pisses me off. For some reason I don't get as up in arms about a few grams of cream missing from a disgusting cookie.

I noticed Haagen Daaz finally got around to lowering a "pint" of their ice cream to 14 oz., I think "half gallons" are down to 1.5 quarts, with some still at 1.75 quarts. Vote with your wallet and avoid companies that pull this crap. Kind of hard, with only a handful of food conglomerates controlling a vast majority of the packaged food supply, but not impossible.

Again, if there are inconsistencies with the labeling then there is a pretty big problem, but if a consumer blindly buys things on preconceived notions or advertising, they only have themselves to blame.

It's not that complicated. After buying the same sh!t over and over, no one reads labels the same way as if it's the first time. Except you perhaps, because you're perfectly fvcking anal? I highly doubt that.

Technically, changing the package size isn't a scam, but while often increasing the lettering or some other bullsh!t often added on, it has the similar effect. Clearly the buyer must beware, no argument there, but over and over again, bullsh!t sales and marketing practices prove how little the consumer should ever take for granted.

the middle stuff is disgusting anyway.

I like the chrstmas ones the best.. wreaths?. just a wafer with a bit of drizzle on it. not so sickly sweet. I don't know if they've been around the last couple years though.

DSC_3954-1_thumb.jpg

so if they made a 'quarterstuf' variant and upped the cocoa, that would be ideal.

What would be great for you & others who are particular about their oreo cookie to cream ratios (I am too, just happen to feel they got it right with the original recipe), would be selling the dry wafers and jars of the white filling separately. Then you could triple stuff, half stuff, whatever.

Also have to point out that "stuff" is a pretty general term. If you're already as close as 1.86x to 2.00x, and more mass in the double stuff's wafers, I'm not seeing a huge scandal here. In fact, just leaving it at 1.86 ~/= "double" isn't bad imo.

lxskllr, even though it's technically legal, I agree with you in spirit, but you're also better than this.

Have they tried 1.61803398875x the stuf? I bet that would be like pure gold.

The sad truth (that most don't see) is that they are raising the prices right under your nose and most of you don't see it.....by giving you a smaller amount in your package for the same (or higher) price.

See www.mouseprint.org for examples of what these guys are going. The toilet paper sizes are really eye opening (I've seen this in real life looking at Angel Soft at Walmart). Soon, you'll be buying the inner brown tube (which is growing in diameter) and you'll get free squares of toilet paper with it.
