The site www.cyberrebate.com presents themselves as looking after your (the customers) interests, but I suspect they're real mission is to take unfair advantage of people that forget to send in they're rebates, or send them in late.

Example

Come on, a CD wallet for $80?
And you gotta love the disclaimer, "All prices and rebates are subject to change without notice."

(hope the link works, my first post)

it looks to me that an awful lot of time was spent on this site, and in general a person who wants to scam wont put this much time into a job... just my thoughts

I am the last person who would defend a scam site, but from what I've heard cyberrebate does send the rebates.

Yes, the prices are very high, and you do have to wait a while to get the rebate. But it doesn't seem right to say "take unfair advantage of people that forget to send in they're rebates, or send them in late". It's not unfair advantage. They make the rules, and if you follow the rules TO THE LETTER you get your stuff free. If you slip up, no rebate, and you've paid a lot. There's a long thread on fatwallet IIRC about this company.

That appeals to some people, but not to me. I don't mind paying a fair price for something, rather than having to jump through hoops to get it for nothing, or maybe paying 5x too much.

I believe not too long ago their prices were a lot lower, but when they raised the prices they raised the rebates so you can still get stuff free.

kranky hit the nail on the head. That's true on or off line. If you don't mind paying extra, and don't mind waiting awhile to get the money back, and if you do everything just right, then rebates can be rewarding. Otherwise, I'd rather just get a good deal on it now, and not have to wait for a rebate. -kd5-
