I have what is known as a 3rd gen 8gb Touch as well. It sure as hell isn't a 2nd.

I was correct when I stated there is no such thing. Please publicly acknowledge this fact so you do not contribute to the misinformation I tried to prevent.

Though retailers universally *call* it "3rd-gen 8GB," Apple does not call it "3rd-gen." Apple specifically says it's 2nd-gen hardware and doesn't have any of the new hardware capabilities of a 3rd-gen device. Even some software capabilities are limited (can't use Bluetooth keyboard, for example...even with 4.x OS).

You are wrong. It is 2nd-gen with iOS 3.x. It isn't a bad thing... it's still faster than iPhone and iPhone 3G, it's just not iPhone 3GS/iPod touch 3rd Gen class.
