I can't really tell what he's saying, but it seems like he is telling you that you'll have the money before you send the card... that raises a flag, but it seems harmless enough.

Yep, if you have to ask, it is.

I personally have a hard time bringing myself to deal with someone who can't reasonably weild the english language. And I'd never ship outside the country unless it was to Canada.

If you get the cash from Western Union there is absoultley NO way that they can take it back, nor is there anyway that it cn be fake money. So if you truly do get the money, then why not send him the card. I don't see how you could lose. If he sends the money send the card, If he tries to get you to mail it first, then bail.

yea, obviously there wont be a risk once i have the money, but im thinking of something more like he can trick western union.. then im the one resposible for the money.. or something..as in i might owe the amount.... is that possible?

If you have the money in hand before hand there is no way its a scam. I once had a buyer from India for a motherboard/chip combination, sure enough they paid by western union (I went to my nearest location cashed it had the cash in hand) and mailed off the motherboard/cpu. Generally if you have the Cash in hand (not talking about cheque but actual cash from a money order or western union) its not a scam. When they ask YOU to send money by western union its usually a scam.

He sends the $$$
You go to WU
Walk out with fistful of cash
You ship card. (Make sure you know how much shipping will be)

If anything deviates from that, it's a scam. There's no way for him to "scam" WU, what are they gonna do? Hunt you down after you collected cash?

There are probably dozens of variations of the Western Union scam.

Here are just a few I could think of off the top of my head.

1) Western Union payments to your checking account. Just give them you account number and they'll Western Union the money directly into your account. Of course this is an obvious scam as you just told the thief your account numbers.

2) They change their mind and send you the Western Union money after you give them a valid tracking number for your shipment. You mail it, they never pay it.

3) They send you a valid Western Union tracking number so you ship off the item. Then you get to Western Union and find out that tracking number wasn't for your name. You never can get the money and have already shipped out the goods.

4) Overpayment by Western Union, then demanding you pay them back. There are too many variations on this to mention and you have already heard them I bet.

I think if you can truely get cash from the Western Union FIRST without giving any personal information then you should be safe.

Yeah, there are a lot of scams, but this one doesn't sound like one... if you have cash in hand from Western Union before shipping, I don't see anything wrong. I'm assuming the item you're sending can legally be exported to Egypt?

Also, be sure you figure any customs fees in your shipping costs. They can be rather spendy for you if you don't.
Personally, unless I know the person, I won't do any business with people in foreign countries. Too many hassles for me.
