So i get a letter from them saying because I did well first semseter, I can join for $75. I've never heard of them before and don't want to fork over $75 for something worthless. They do have a website, here. And my own school also has their page for them under student orgs. Any thoughts?

I don't know, but I can say I was offered to join stuff like Eta Kappa Nu (http://www.hkn.org) and Tau Beta Pi (http://www.tbp.org), both of which are engineering honors societies. Also cost something like $80-90 a piece, but I think these are definitely legit. Yours, I don't know, but I'd ask around.

I got the same thing and I talked to my guidance counselor, and they said that if they ask for money, then it is not legit. Just what my guidance counselor said..

LOL.

ALL college honor societies have membership fees. Id say its legit considering it has chapters, with links to said chapters hosted by the actual universities.

It looks to be a service oriented honors society.

Are you in HS? Because I got tons of the other kind of letters where they were like yea ur special and we are gonna list you in this book you can buy so show off and stuff...

This group does seem somewhat legit to me because there is quite a bit of content, but I'm just wondering if anyone has joined or think it's worth the $75.

Should I look at it, that less people have heard of it, the more legit it probably is? Because a scam would try to get everyone?

Also, it mentions a specific GPA, so I guess they must be affliated with my school in some way.

I guess I'll ask around at school, to bad I don't know more people with higher gpas...

You must be talking about the National Deans List. They try to get you to buy the books, but adding you name + bio doesnt cost anything.

As for NSCS, it looks pretty legit to me. It looks to be a service oriented honors society. Id say join if you plan to participate, dont bother if you decide not to.
