scaling down a p4 cpu on an older mobo

Would I be able to 'underclock' a 2.8c and put it on my msi 845 ultra aru until my new mobo gets here? Their website says there is no support for doing that..

i think you can put the processor in FSB533 instead of FSB800 though it decreased the speed to 1862Mhz

I think your motherboard will do the underclocking for you because the 845 chipset doesn't officially support 800 mhz fsb. I'm no intel expert, but my guess is that the motherboard will recognize the CPU as a 2.8C, but won't run it at that speed because it does not and can not run at that speed.
