Does anyone know of any programs that are more current then CDRIdentifier?? Since this isn't being updated, more and more CD's I buy are not being identified.

This was such a great program, I hope that someone fills in the void left by this apps leaving the scene.

Are you saying 18 out of 20 cd's you burned were coasters?? If so don't blame the media, check something else...the only real disadvantage I have read regarding cheapo CD's is that they will not last as long...I have used plenty of cheap CD's the only time i got coasters is when I did something stupid...they could not get away with selling something that has a 90% failure rate...

<< Be aware that some CompUSA stores are selling the Taiyo Yuden version of these discs, making this FLAMING. The TY packs are easily recognized: They have a screw-top spindle, and they say "Made in Japan" (the other variety, Ritek, says Made in Taiwan). >>

Will they? I recently bought a couple of 100-packs at Target...they test in CD-R Identifier as TYs and the label said "made in Japan," but the cakebox doesn't have the same type of screw top as the Fujis (=TYs) that I've bought in the past. Instead, the clear top locks into the black bottom. Checking the country of origin is probably the more reliable indicator.

Then again, maybe this is just a difference between 50-packs and 100-packs...

the compusa near me has 100's of these in a big display in the middle of the store with a sign above, 1 rebate per person. there not the certified cdrs tdk makes, but there better than digital research or the 200 cheapo cdrs officemax had last week. only thing i don't like is 2 rebates, what can you do.

tdk makes good cdrs in general, i rarely have problems with this brand.

regarding the rebate, each rebate form wants a the upc from the spindle.. i only see 1 upc here, how do i send one upc to 2 different companies for the rebates?

A few of my silver coated TDK's peeled, thereby ruining the disc. I wrote TDK about it and they told me that they would replace them but I still lost the information that they contained. They were the ones with the screw off top by the way.

My local Circuit City store at Torrance, CA has the same TDK 50-pack for $19.99 ($29.99-$10 MIR) except that most of them are made in Japan. So I went there with the CompUSA ad to price match. After some calculations, the CSR only charged me for $12.99 ($29.99-$15-$2) before $10 MIR. So,my net cost will be $2.99 plus tax, exactly the same deal as the CompUSA, with only one TDK rebate to send in, and a higher quality spindle. For people who are quality conscious and don't want to spend 4 months waiting for their $2 MIR, price matching at CC is a better way to go.

Just picked up 2 fifty packs of 32x TDK CDRs from CompUSA and to get the mail rebate on both I bought one and my brother bought the other one. We do live in separate households.

For those in Northern Jersey, the Paramus CompUSA has plenty of 32x TDKs left.

I just came from there and this is what I got:
TDK Media from CompUSA
ATIP: 97m 15s 17f
Disc Manufacturer: Ritek Co.
Reflective layer: Dye (Short strategy; e.g. Phthalocyanine)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 73f / LBA: 359848)

Here is what I got from Target
TDK Media from Target
ATIP: 97m 15s 12f
Disc Manufacturer: Ritek Co.
Reflective layer: Dye (Long strategy; e.g. Cyanine, Azo etc.)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f / LBA: 359849)

Here is what I got from FRY's:
TDK Media from FRY's (Made in Japan)
ATIP: 97m 24s 01f
Disc Manufacturer: Taiyo Yuden Company Ltd.
Reflective layer: Dye (Long strategy; e.g. Cyanine, Azo etc.)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 73f / LBA: 359848)

Hope that helps and good luck.
I think this is a warm deal even for cheap media as at least the backing is descent.

Actually, I had the same experience. 7 out of 8 were BAD. I blame the media because when I swapped it with another brand, my project would burn fine. Stick in TDK, bad. I realize I probably just had a bad batch, but considering I have never had a bad batch of Hypermedia, Imations, etc(over 500 burned) I now stay away from TDKs made in Taiwan for superstitious reasons.

Well, that just sucks... I bought 2 spindles on the same receipt... Oh well. Still a good deal. I'm going to send 2 seperate rebates in anyway, I should at least get one of them back.

<< It will not work because New Rochelle uses the transaction ID on your CompUSA receipt as the unique identifer for validating your rebate request. If you submit the same receipt or a receipt with a bogus transaction id it will get denied. If you submit the same receipt but use different addresses, it will still get denied for the imfamous "same receipt used by more than one person" denial reason. It is hard enough to get New Rochelle a valid rebate request! New Rochelle is extremely anal. For example, if you pay with a credit card, the name you provide on your rebate form must match exactly the cardholder name on your CompUSA receipt. Otherwise they will deny your rebate as "Not transferrrable". If you pay by credit card, the best advice is not to even include the credit card portion of your receipt. >>
