SCALDING!!! TDK 32x CD-R 50 pack at CompUSA $2.99 (after MIRs)

FYI: if you need cases as well as CD-Rs they also have a deal for 50 cd-rs & 50 jewel cases for $4.95 after rebates. They have done this before and it involves buying 5 10-pks and sending in for 5 rebates.
SKU 288451. Imation.

And if you don't have a CompUSA available, the Best Buy ad in today's paper has 50-pk Digital Research cd-rs free after rebates. $22.99 less $6.99 instant rebate less $10 MIR less $6 Best Buy MIR.DRCDR3250S

Best Buy also has the 110-pk PNY cd-rs for $9.99. $44.99 less $15 MIR less $5 Best Buy MIR less $15 instant rebate. CDR110B16

Hopefully everyone can find a cd-r deal to their liking out of the 2 at CompUSA and the 2 at Best Buy.

Be aware that some CompUSA stores are selling the Taiyo Yuden version of these discs, making this FLAMING. The TY packs are easily recognized: They have a screw-top spindle, and they say "Made in Japan" (the other variety, Ritek, says Made in Taiwan). Look for this above the bar code.

EIther way, hot deal.

Ok, here comes the ol' CDR media question... are these Taiyo Yudens? 🙂
I hope they aren't Riteks... CrapUSSR's rebates are dirt slow.

<<Best Buy also has the 110-pk PNY cd-rs for $9.99.>>

Have a Plextor-based 12x Que Firewire drive. PNY disks are the only brand that don't work.

The rebates both require the orignal UPC.... gotta read the fine print. either way it's still a good deal

I'm a TDK fanatic, but I picked up the Free PNY 100 pack on Thanksgiving (along with my ti200). I was holding off on using them for a long time, but when I ran low on TDK's I gave the PNYs a try. They've been working fine on my Plextor 16/10/40A. (I don't know how long they'll last tho.) And of course, I'm going to stock up on TDKs when deals like this pop up. I may also pick up some of the $9.99 16x TDKs if they have those too.

the only tdk's ive seen were riteks (made in japan)
they work fine for me so far, i picked up the other deal compusa had on em a few weeks ago, i think it was 50 for 14.99 before rebates

3. Mail this form with a copy of your sales receipt and original UPC code from product package

I think that could also mean.. "Mail this form with a copy of your sales receipt AND a copy of the original UPC code from product package".

Ok, I got mine in the Skokie store. All they had were Made in Taiwan. They didn't have any TDK 16x for $9.99 as posted in another thread. They only had some 24x for $19.99.

I asked one of the guys (who was a jack*ss, btw) about the UPC and he said the copy should go to the "CompUSA Offer" address, which is the $2 rebate. Send the original to the "TDK Offer" $10 rebate.

Yeah, I was planning on doing that already. Figure if the crapusa one falls through, i'm only out $2. $4.99 is still pretty hot. Only problem I have is that I bought 3, and need different reciepts for them, as stated in the rebate form which I got after i bought them. Would have been nice if crapusa would have stated, 1 per person per household in the ad. Oh well. Photoshop, here i come. (fyi, I actually bought 2 for myself, and the 3rd is going to a friend who was too lazy to pick it up himself, so in actuallity, what i'm doing isn't %100 wrong)

I posted "limit one" at the top of this thread and also it says "limit one" on the rebates linked in my first post.

(But yes, CompUSA sux for not making it obvious in the ad. The trick is, you have to assume CompUSA is negligent or is otherwise going to screw you somehow...)

It will not work because New Rochelle uses the transaction ID on your CompUSA receipt as the unique identifer for validating your rebate request. If you submit the same receipt or a receipt with a bogus transaction id it will get denied. If you submit the same receipt but use different addresses, it will still get denied for the imfamous "same receipt used by more than one person" denial reason. It is hard enough to get New Rochelle a valid rebate request! New Rochelle is extremely anal. For example, if you pay with a credit card, the name you provide on your rebate form must match exactly the cardholder name on your CompUSA receipt. Otherwise they will deny your rebate as "Not transferrrable". If you pay by credit card, the best advice is not to even include the credit card portion of your receipt.

thanks for the deal, was in need of some CD-Rs. Both rebates require original UPC...but I guess I'll just disregard the $2 rebate. oh well...

When you send in the copy of the UPC be sure to state that the original was used in another rebate somewhere on the copy. You should have no problem.

I went to East County San Diego CussUSA and all they had were the "made in Taiwan" so not all stores will have the "made in Japan" TDK. Also, this was posted last week but they have the Fuji 50 pack spindle for $9.99 with no rebates involved and we know those are Taiyo Yudens. That is a hot deal since that is the after rebate price with no rebates. 😉
