SC2 problems...

Hey guys, new here but long time lurker. Lotsa respect!

I started up an account because I can't make heads or tales of an issue.

I am planning a new rig soon, but in the meantime I am running (don't laugh):

Intel Pentium D CPU 3.00GHz
4.00 GB (3.25 usable)
32-bit Windows 7
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260

I saw in another thread where SC2 would run at 49 FPS with that card. I'm fairly certain that is with a better CPU, but shouldn't I do better than 4-9 FPS?!

I must also add that I have a side fan out.

Thanks for any help.

SC2 is heavily CPU limited. Running Win 7 + SC2 + that CPU won't be pleasant.
Is it 4~9 with everything turned down to the lowest/turned off?

Yeah, once I get to about 16 supply; it chugs at that pace.

:/

Can't wait to afford my new rig...

Thanks for your honest words.

Use a driver cleaner and install the latest drivers after reboot.

If it doesnt improve I am tempted to just tell you min everything and use a resolution you can handle.

yeah that cpu is holding you back Im running sc2 with q9550 and GTX260 both @ stock clock getting around 80fps to 100fps at max settings.

I should note my monitor is 1440x900 if you are @1920x1200 you should probably get around 50fps

with q9500 you will only get 80+ when the game starts. with any battle it will just drop like crazy.

Anyway, op, the cause is cpu. it uses upto 2 cores and loves latest intel cpus.

i would recommand i5 2500k. your gpu is fine.

for reference, running q8200 @ 3.2ghz with hd6850 on ultra , in 2v2 multiplayer on heavy battle it still dips into teens and lower fps.
but it is still playable so I will wait for now .
