SBLive install = no CDRW?

I recently installed a new SoundBlaster Platinum and for some reason that has completely baffled me, doing a complete install causes Winblows to not recognize my Plextor CDRW at all. Nothin, nada. BIOS sees it, but that's it. This happens after the restart after installing the drivers for the sound card. If anybody has any ideas or solutions to this that I can try before I break down and call long distance for tech support, please let me know!

are you sure you didn't unplug the CD power when you installed the breakout box? Just a thought...!

Do you have any other drives on thew same ide controller as the cdrw and are they acessable in windows. I have had ide controllers dissapear on me after a pci card has been installed. Its due to a irq issue and the way the Award bios does the plug and play if you have the bios doing plug and play for you instead of windows. If thats the issue, then move the soundcard to another pci slot and hope the bios can allocate the irq's and dma poperly. Having in its current slot, its probally causing a problem with sharing the irq with a onboard device.

The CDRW is the only device on the controller. I have the CDRW attached to a UDMA/33 while my HD is on a UDMA/66. I moved it to a new slot with no luck but now that I think about it the slot that I moved it to shares IRQs with the slot that I just moved it from. I'll try moving it again. The only other PCI card I have is a NIC.

oh and BTW.... Beck's rules!!!

Ya it just might be irq sharing issue. These SbLives somtimes are a pain in ass to get installed because of the extra irq needed for the sb16 emulator. You might want to try setting the sb16 emulator to share resources with the lpt port. That will usually clear up alot of resource issues the Sblive causes with certain hardware.
