...it was the easiest installation of a soundcard I've ever had!

On a CUSL2, my MX300 using all the tricks I could find, would not install properly! I've been using an Ensoniq Audio PCI [1370chip]. Great card in it's own right.

My system...

Enlite EN7237 w/Antec 300 PS
CUSL2 [DX100 fan on chip]
PIII700 @ 933 [Thanks Compuwiz1! w/Alpha
384mb PC100 Infinenon
WD 27.3 @ 20.7 7200 rpm drives
Panasonic 8X DVD
Linksys LNE100TX/Dlink hub and router
Soundblaster Live
Logitech Internet Keyboard
MS Intellimouse Explorer
Samsung 955DF
Altec Lansing ACS500
APC Backoffice 500 UPS

Dual booting 2000 and 98....Installation of the card and all software was incredibly easy in both OSs.
I'm happy!🙂

the live has an arrogant install, it hijacks an extra IRQ just in case you want sb16 emulation without even giving you the option to install that. and if you remove the sb16 emulation, it doesn't care it will reinstall automatically without even giving you an option, I had to manually disable it from the device settings.

With the SBlive I notice if you install Liveware 2 first ,you have no problems then When you upgrade to Liveware 3 your Irq changes(don`t know why)anyway I changed the resources on my Modem ,which after reboot moves My SBlive back to where it was before(very strange).Anyone notice it says don`t remove liveware 2 when you upgrade to liveware 3(in the readme file online)because this will do all that, well I have still got liveware 2 & 3 in my programs menu,I wonder if it`s safe to remove liveware 2, also I wonder why it was not removed when liveware 3 was installed?

🙂

Good grief Mem, thanks for the info.

If only Creative would have done a AWE64 for PCI but nooooooooo. In PCMag's best products for 2000 I was shocked to see that the AWE is still the best compatible sound card.
