I have a few questions about SBC Yahoo! DSL that I was wondering if any of you knew...

First, my girlfriend has SBC Yahoo! DSL and after you click the SBC Yahoo! DSL desktop icon (rocketship icon) it brings up a connection manager, you hit START and then it connects. Afterwards it automatically opens a browswer and SHOULD go to the page where it has every user listed with an icon, and you click yours and enter your password if it's not saved. Well for some reason, after she connects it does NOT bring up that page, but instead a page similiar to if you were logging in to play Yahoo! Games and just asks for her user name and password. The page has the Premium Features Menu on the left, the log in on the right and has a header saying WELCOME BACK TO SBC YAHOO! DSL.... how can you make it go back to the page where it lists EVERY user and you click your icon/username and then enter your password? There must be a way to make it load back to that page. She is running Windows XP and other the other XP users it loads the right page (one with every user). Only on hers is it messed up so there must be a way to fix this.

Second, I have regular SBC DSL and was thinking of "upgrading" to SBC Yahoo! DSL... I have a router which keeps me automatically always connected to the net so I am wondering if I upgrade will I have to 1)install the SBC Yahoo! DSL software on the other computer, 2)have to manually connect everytime to the net as oppossed to letting the router keep it on all the time. 3)if I have to manually connect, can 2 people still be online at once as it currently allows and then 4) can I uninstall the upgrade to SBC Yahoo! if it won't let me do as I asked above and still keep my "old" DSL? Thanks a lot, basically I just need some info with people whp have SBC Yahoo! DSL and run a router with 2 computers online at the same time... pros and cons. Thanks!

About your girfriend's problem....no idea(because I dont use software)

what I did was install software so i could do the registration stuff, and get username and password and then I unstalled software...I also later restored from ghost image and have no trace of their software. I read afterwords there is a way to register and get the info without the software, or with only part of it, might want to look into it.

As for your other questions, basically: yes
I have it connected to router, which is always logged in ppoee or whatever it's called, just put email adress(username) and password into router, and set it to stay connected, and I have 2 PCs connected to it and it works fine.

As for uninstalling and going back to old sbc....i dont think that has anything to do with the software, would probally need to call and ask.

I have the 1500/128 package, live in a 40 year old house(old wiring) 8000-10000ft from central office and I get 1.2Mbit download, and 104Kbps uploads(tested)

In my experiences, upgrading to SBC Yahoo is completely optional, besides getting some yahoo premium features for free (which I beleive has been discontinued) there are no other good reasons to "upgrade" besides getting to use yahoo mail for your accounts. SBC's software, BTW, is completely optional, as a matter of fact it usually causes far more problems than its worth. On windows XP machines its best to uninstall all of SBCs crap and use Windows XP built-in DSL line support to connect to SBC. And upgrading to SBC Yahoo DSL doesn't affect routers at all, and you can keep using the service just the way you used it before upgrading.

I don't have any SBC software installed, I used the Windows XP based DSL connection manager as mentioned earlier... SBC Yahoo! does still offer you a few premium services just for switching to them. So basically, I can upgrade to SBC Yahoo! DSL on my computer and not on the other PC and everything should stay the same, correct? My user name and passwrd stay the same, as does the connection so nothing should need to be altered, correct?

And bump for my first problem please!

Oiy! I've never heard of that happening before but if my memory serves me right, the page that you're talking about is actually an option on the menu somewhere regarding logging in and out. Oh and BTW, yes you can upgrade without affecting your setup at all. I know that I did :)

i was contemplating upgrading to the YAHOO/SBC but i don't think that premimum stuff is worth it.

I had SBC on 98se for a few months and that wasn't too fun. So upgraded to XP and used the XP Connection wizard. Now, i just use my router.

My gf got the Yahoo/SBC and used the connection manager and was pure trash. She went out and got a wireless router and set that up. No problems.

Call up tech support. Though they prolly have you delete cache and files and such.
