SBC DSL

My brother's friend has it... seems to suit him fine... don't know why he picked that over cable... but his speed isn't really that much different from ours or other cable users around the area.

good= they fight the riaa.
bad = no static ip, upload speed is sh(t

do not install their software. well you might have to in order to set up.

i just ghost imaged my os b4 and then restored to clean windows after getting all the settings/setup info

I've had it for 5 years. It rocks, best ever. 🙂

ugh, i have sbc in san diego. ive had those bastards come out to check the line twice, they say im close to the "box" and should be getting top speeds...meanwhile i have to reset the sh!tty modem at least once aday, other times its just slow as fvck.

i have it in DFW area. speed isnt amazing, but i dont think it has gone down once in the entire 2 years that i've had it. usually, dealing with SBC, you learn to not expect much, but their DSL ain't bad in my experience.

I want the 6MB SBC DSL - $100/mo. Unfortunately my address isn't going to work with it -- too far from the DSLAM.

<<<<< crying for 3 months straight.

i have it in the SF bay area. it's ok. i have to reset my modem every couple days, so there's no hope of anything resembling a static IP.

pyonir, what are you talking about? i get to ebay just fine. am i missing something?

the ebay outage last night.

I'm in Orange County and it works fine. 1.1mb down and about 75k up. Hasn't been down once in the 4 months I've had it, never had to restart the modem. Paying $30 a month.

But I'd take DirecTV DSL back any day!

if you live in the san gabriel valley area, don't get it because its too far from the co, which means you'll only be getting around 384kps down

have both SBC DSL and roadrunner, DSL sux when using PPPoE, atleast down 5 minutes a day when my cable modem is only down 5 min every two weeks. i'm only 3k feet away from the central office so i get nearly the fastest speeds available, but if ur using Bittorrent, or any p2p apps or want to share ur connection, go for cable. running 2 or more BT's and the connection slows to a crawl, i could do 6 on cable b4 that happens

also, if u've noticed the RIAA is ONLY suing RBOCs and other non-media ISPs, they are not suing themselves (that is TimeWarner/AOL, and the rest of the cable co's), because the cable industry is in kahoots with the RIAA and the entire entertainment/media monopoly. hence if u subscribe to cable over DSL, u won't be seeing a subpoena (although high amounts of traffic thru ur cable modem will get u declared a "server" and they'll drop u)

but avoid cable if u live near a college hub....
