Update from the DSLReports.com Pacbell DSL forum says the upgrade to 256K upload was put on hold until Nov.15 supposedly due to system issues in the ordering systems. My sources confirm this is the case at least from the standpoint of new orders. They are not sure if these ordering system issues will delay the upgrade of current customers. Personally I have not seen any upgraded circuits yet.

I just did a one of the tests on dslreports.com and i'm getting 1230 upload dl and 133 kbps upload. I feel like i'm getting gypped by paying $50/month. Should I go with cable or are those good speeds?

I'm getting serious with SBC, if they won't upgrade my line by the said date 11-15, then I will be downgrading back to standard plus and paying 10 dollar less. Hell 256k vs 288k is negligible IMO...the sad part is that I will be put back to 160kbps as well if the profile will not be upgraded by then :( oh dear me.

Much faster than a T1 (150KB down) but not great for hosting websites. It's good enough though for our email server which we host. We pay $199/month for this connection. We also have another business DSL line which is $80/month and that is only 150KB/sec down and only get this 13KB/up which is 128Kbps.

err, a full t1 is 1.5mbps up and down.... and can be used fractally at 64kbps chunks. and a full t1 line will run anywhere between $600-2000 a month depending on location/carrier.

just to let everyone know that www.dell4me.com/broadband allows new customers to get the 26.95/month with no act fees, free modem, just pay (12.95) shipping, and u also get a 75 rebate from dell.. better than a bestbuy giftcard if you ask mee.. :) just did this yesterday so i know it's real.. although you do have to have sbc as ur phone carrier

HOT for current SBC customers who are paying 49.99 a month: call SBC, threaten to change service unless they make it $29.99 a month like the new subscribers are, worked for us, it takes effect next month

But once you're on contract, there's no way out of it except to foot another 200 bucks to dump them for something faster, better without any commitment to 1 year penalty.
Cyberonic is 1.5mbit/768k for 49.95 no contract and they only charge 99 activation fee plus if you go 18month contract its reduced to 39.95 but hell thats risky who knows how reliable they are and you might have to switch again. Whee.

damn, i'd pay up to $100 for that service if SBC offers that package.

Who is your carrier? website?

I pay 50 for earthlink. it is expensive, but I got 1.5 dl and 3xxk up. Pretty happy with this speed.
Sbc just has 128 up in my area. Not good for me.
