If anyone has SBC DSL and has had unreliable connection and connection speed please respond I would realy appreciate any input . I've had the service since early April this year and have been less than happy with it , when it works it works great but as of late May I've been having all kinds of problems with disconnects and even trouble connecting, They (SBC) sent someone to my house to check the phone line and there was no problem and I have spent a combined 6 hours or more with their so called tech support and they have me try the same stupid obvious things and it stil not fixing the problem. The service techs first said that they did have a problem with some of their equipment but that they had fixed it, no less than an hour after he left my house I started getting disconnects again. I called back a few days later and spent more time than I care to say with their tech support they again where of no help and told me that someone would call me the next day to set up another service call when they called me they told me that there was an outage in my area again but that they had fixed it so I brought up what the first tech had told me that the problem had been fixed and he reponded by telling me that it hadn't but that now it finally had been. I was able to use the service flawlessly up untill this past Sunday the 8th and now I'm back to square one with disconnects and problems connecting. I called SBC to request that they waive the cancellation fee so that I can stop paying for their unreliable lame service but they wont do it and will only offer to send another of their moron techs to my house when it is obvious the problem is with their equipment.

I wouldn't say its obvious that its their equipment, if so they'd probably have alot of other complaints. Is the modem actually loosing synch from looking at its status lights? If it is then maybe the first tech just missed a problem with your line. My advice would be to let their tech visit once more and if they can't get it straightened out you'll have more leverage for getting them to waive the cancellation fee.

Thanks for the suggestion I think I will provably have to have one of their techs come to my house again the modem is working fine the problem is that the disconnects and the problems with connecting are random and when they come out they only check to see if they can connect not for the possibility of disconnects I just hope it happens when the tech is here.

If you are in Indiana, call the IURC (Indiana utilities regulatory commission). It's about a 5 minute call to file a complaint and within a week you'll be getting a call from someone at the executive office of SBC sucking up to you until your problem is fixed. SBC is in hot water here in Indiana for their poor service.

Thanks for the tip Obsidian I'm in San Diego Ca. I dont know if SBC is in trouble for lame service here too but I do know that the local branch of the BBB has them listed as having an unsatisfactory service record.
