SBC DSL for $14.95

If I remember correctly wasn't that only 2 months ago, at that time I was joking about 14.95 and 24.95 and now it's really happening! Pretty funny.
This is just unreal, what next? 9.95 and 19.95? a few months from now? SBC instead of upping their speed does the opposite, lowering prices to taunt their competitor. This is just crazy yet I am flipping off saying how do they make money like this? All the AOL users paying 24.95 a month are just going to switch over to sbc's standard package 14.95, pay 10.00 less and surf at blazing speed of 50 times faster. Now that is crazy!
Dialup users become flying turtles? LMAO

I just called up SBC, asked for retention department, Played dumb and go re-rated to 14.95/mo. I had previously re-rated to 19.95/mo plan back in March and they re-rated me without any questions or problem. At this rate, hopefully there will be a 9.95/mo promotion sometime around Sept-Oct of this year 🙂

within the past year, i have gone from 35 -> 26 -> 20 -> 15. Everytime a new promotion comes up, they just re-rate me..i just act dumb.

Back in February or March I called my local cable internet company which is Charter and they sent me a book of coupons to bring my 3mbit service to $29.99 in competition with SBC. Time for me to get them to price match again 🙂

Heheheh. Yeah if you have 6mbit, you can't do anything. Same with me, I have the 6mbit for $45 a month. If I touch it, it dies. And they dont even sell a 6mbit anymore, for any amount of money.

Great deal! I've got the 1.5/384 plan now (which gets about 1.3 down) and paying ~$27. Had it for almost a year and it's been great, no downtown yet. I'll be calling and seeing if I can get switched to this new plan. Thanks OP.

For SBC Dsl user's paying current rates and want to be re-rated to the promotional price.

Call 800-579-7861
Ask to be connected to "customer retention.
Tell person which package you have. Dsl express or pro.
Tell person you would like to be re-rated to new promotional price.
$14.95 for express or $24.99 for pro.

Be adviced that sometimes there is a long wait time. Guess Sbc is real busy right now.
Well worth the wait .

AOL users don't switch. Their email addy's more precious than their own child. Even if AOL raises the price of dial-up to $50, they'll still have their customers.

I wish I could get sbc, but somehow this one little section of houston (well missouri city, sugarland and stafford) are in verizon or alltel territory. That sucks. I hate time warner. I had an outage which was finally deemed their fault for 2 weeks. I made it from the national hotline for roadrunner down to a local network engineer who then put in a ticket, gave me the number, but did not complete the appointment setup. So I waited during my scheduled appointment and no one came. So I called up timewarner and they were "oh so sorry" but could not get someone out there that day. I had to wait an additional 3 days (it was a saturday). So then the dude comes, not to mention I had to leave work early for this, and he can't track down the issue. Finally 3 hours later he finds the problem is on their end and could have been fixed from the HeadEnd. Yeah, I hate time warner. Viva la SBC.

how long does it take for them to adjust ur speed?

1 week. You should test your speed the day after to confirm the speed change.

just changed dsl to 14.95 a month 🙂

Directions
=======

Call 800-579-7861
-- I waited about 15 min

Say: "Can I be connected to someone in the customer retention dept."
-- I waited about another 10 min

Say (to the 2nd CSR): "I would like to renew my contract at the new promotional rate of XX.XX for express/pro"
-- The CSR didn't give any hassle whatsoever, ask for phone number, name, last 4 SSN, and takes about 4 minutes to update and tells you that your contract will restart and gives you the new ending date. ***

$14.95 for express or $24.99 for pro.

Hours Mon-Fri 8:00-6:00 and Sat 8:30-5:00

========

You can change to either one but i couldn't get the pro package because I was too far away.

*** In case you ever want to cancel: The CSR also tells you that there is still the $200 termination fee for cancelling before the new date and even if you move to a new address that is not SBC area (i.e Verizon), that you still have to pay. Only if you move into SBC area BUT they don't offer SBC DSL yet, does your termination fee get waived. I know someone who got the termination fee waived.

hmm things are getting cheaper now.. i cant believe a few of my friends still have 56k... Stupid Comcast i am paying $53 a month but for 4mbps down. I never trusted SBC.. the whole thing about supposedly getting 1.5mbps but never really going over 1.2mbps seemed bad to me especially when i had 1.5mbps cable and i was getting 1.7mbps down. I wish comcast would lower their prices 🙁

comcrap needs to lower their price, up their speed for gold and silver. say 5.0/768 and 3.0/512 as well. pricing? 29.95 and 19.95?

Either they're getting wise to the current deal or they play hardball in California, but it took me 3 calls to the above 800-579-7861. All 3 times when I asked to speak to Customer Retention, they did NOT transfer me, gave me the runaround, and said they couldn't do anything for me. I have DSLexpress and have 4 months on my year contract @$27/mo, in the Bay Area. The last time I said I wanted to cancel the service, and then, finally, I got put on hold and the "supervisor" was spoken to, and got the $14.95/month deal! whoohoo - thanks Hot Deals! BTW SBC DSL is great - very fast, no outages etc. Quite happy with them and even happier paying almost half price!

I think its mostly luck of the draw in terms of getting someone who will give you the deal with no hassle (especially if they are not the retention dept). Anyway, the most luck seems to be by people getting through to the retention department, from the posts I've seen.

I actually had much better performance / no problems with TWC's Road Runner, but for 1/3 the price, I'll deal with having to reset my crappy DSL modem once in a while. I switched to DSL back during the last offer ($19.95).

took me less than 4 mins on the phone for the re-rate. I signed up thru Dell on April when they have a $60 rebate and first 3 months for free [$26.95/mo]. the lady told me that I can't do the re-rate because it's for online order only so I told her my friends got the same plan like me but they got their plans rerated. She put me on hold for like 2 mins and came back to me said I am the $14.95 plan now. so [($14.95 x 12) - $60 rebate]/15 months = $7.96 per month..They did make me a very satisfy customer today!

Got shot down in TX. They said it is only for new customers applying online. I asked to close the DSL. They said my contract does not go out until June 13. I will be calling again since its now after 6pm. Tried the numbers above but its only for Cali. Maybe we should be listing our locations when leaving 1800numbers.

I just signed up through Dell with their $100 rebate. However, that's at a higher rate so I'll have to call to adjust that. almostrice, I read on FW that someone from TX called the CA office and was able to get the lower rate. YMMV.
