A pretty sweet deal for those still on dial-up or who are looking for cheap broadband.

Sign up for SBC DSL @ Best Buy at $14.95 per month for 12 months and get a $75 Best Buy gift card by mail.

Deal good thru July 23

Is this one of those deals where you have to agree to sign up for 3 years (so 2 years at regular price) ?

My parents are still on dial-up and I think SBC offers service in their part of the state so this could be a good deal for them.

how recently did you get in on the deal? if it's been less than a month, then call them.. they may still send it to you.. just say you just signed up, then this promotion showed up and see if you can qualify for it.. call a few times to try to get differnt csr's and see what they say

Holy cow. If this is true, I'm gonna try to get in on it. I do see the gift card listed on my local Best Buy flyer, but it only advertises it for Comcast Cable Internet. Hope it works for SBC DSL.

It really isn't as amazing as it sounds. To do it at BestBuy I had to purchase the SBC-Yahoo starter pack for $95 after taxes. There is a $75 rebate and a $15 rebate for it. So if you get all of your rebates, you save $13 (SBC shipping-and-handling fee for the kit they would otherwise mail to you) minus the $6 for taxes and the postage stamp, saving you $7. The big savings is that you get the $75 Best Buy gift card, which you also have to mail away for and hope you receive, like a rebate.

If it all comes together then you hit a home run on the deal, getting the DSL for less than $10/month.

Thing is, you have to gamble that $90 + tax to go buy the starter kit at Best Buy. Reward for the gamble is the $75 gift card. So when you look at it that way, it isn't as hot as it might seem.

Now...what the heck am I gonna do with that $75 card. If I spend it at Best Buy it's like a $40 card since just about everything there is severely overpriced. Their video card selection and prices were laughable. Probably have to use it for a hard drive deal with more rebates of course.

Well, I think if you had ordered directly from SBC you'd end up having to gamble with a $50 rebate for their starter package. So maybe it isn't as bad as I thought. I'm scheduled for activation in only a few days. Yippee!
