SB live! Value vs MSI KT3 Ultra onboard Audio?

So what soundcard is best.. The old Live value or MSI onboard?

hard to say, I've always been a fan of 'real' soundcards vs onboard... I have an SB Live! value also and I use it over my Asus A7V333-raid's Cmedia 6-speaker onboard sound (which isn't that supposed to be better than the Realtek AC97 chipsets?) ...but I haven't really given it a chance yet. I may test it out and see if it's worth using it over my old Live, but so far I'm still attached to it.

Is the MSI onboard using the CMI 8738? If it is, then the SB Live will better in terms of gaming and music playback.

no.. the MSI KT3 Ultra/Ultra ARU is using:

Integrated Realtek® ALC650 Chipset (6-channel S/W audio)
- Direct Sound AC'97 Audio
- 6-channel analog output

In this case, the live will have be better.

Are you sure the Live value is better? I mean it's pretty old and only has 4 channel analog output.

Aren't there any reveiws or something?

I'd prefer to use any PCI soundcard over onboard! The SBLIVE will be much better..
