SB Live Value + headphones - how?

When I bought the SB Live Value the retailer told me that I could not plug in headphones. But I have seen others here posting that they are using them with this card. I can't tell whether any of the outputs support headphones or whether I'll overload them by a straight plug in. Do I need an adapter of some sort for headphones with a mini-plug (1/8th&quot? I want it for working and gaming not just for CDs. Thanks.

I'm listening to my mp3 collection via a pair of sony headphones and my SB Live Value right now.

So I seriously doubt that you can't use your own headphones. If you have a flick through the PDF manual on the CD, it does reference the use of the 'line-out' jack with headphones. That's what I'm doing, and after 8 months, can't say I've got any complaints whatsoever. I use the headphones for the afforementioned mp3s, CDs, games, and everything else that outputs sound as well.

I gotta splitter with one wire going to my speakers and the other going to my nice'n'free headset from Visitalk.

What about using headsets that has the microphone built in. I've used dialpad before, but its kind of a pain unless you have a headset.

shouldn't be a problem, since there will 2 jacks for the headphones. One goes into line out, the other into the microphone jack.

that's not true.....just get a Y-cable for example, put your speakers in one plug, and the headphones in the other. The green and blacks out's are just normal audio connectors.

It's easier if you use the digital out though, then you can used the normal plugs exclusively for your headphones, that'll help reduce interference noise and such

This can be done also by using the Live!Drive. I recently purchased one and I love it!! It ports plugs to the front of the computer to be used there instead of having to upplug and plug them on the backside of the computer. The only drawback to the Live!Drive is the price, $139 plus shipping.

Of course you can use headphones. get the headphones from your walkman and you'll see that you can plug any headphones into any sound card.

Radio Shack to the rescue. Q3 sounds a bit weird on these JVC HA-CD71F headphones compared to my ACS 45.2 speakers but it works. The WOWThing Winamp plugin seems to help considerably with the headphones.

No matter what you do, dont use the headphone setting in the liveware unless youre playing a 3d game. It does this retarded processing on the 2d sounds to make it sound like its coming from speakers in front of you instead of normal sound. But it ends up killing the bass and making it grainy. But in a 3d game in works correctly because of the HRTFs. Just trust me on this one, listening to mp3s and music on your sblive with headphones sounds MUCH better on 2 speaker mode.
