SB Live! Value....can I play and record wavs at the same time?

I'm using Win98SE and have a SB Live! Value sound card. I'm trying to play and record wavs at the same time, but when I try, it tells me the Audio Player is Busy or something to that effect. I've tried the "What U Hear" function, but no go. I can record samples from a CD, though.
