SB live ? Do you need the liveware software?

how many people are using the liveware software. I know you can just install the drivers and the card will work fine?

Any advantages liveware gives you?

You don't NEED it but it has its uses. I have noticed that Liveware can cause problems if you have IRQ conflicts with the SB Live!. I used to have a an IRQ conflict which never caused the slightest problem until I installed Liveware. Then I could not even make it into Windows until I disabled Com2.
 
I had problems w/ Liveware 3.0 but 2.0 worked fine. Now I just load the drivers and do without the Liveware all together. That memory resident Playcenter is annoying.
 
I install the driver and Live!Ware 3, and then do Start -> Run -> msconfig and delete anything that autoloads. For Win2k, I use XSetup to remove them, or you can use regedit.
