SB Live 5.1 and VIA chipset and W2K

I have heard alot of problems with the Soundblaster Live! with the VIA chipset and W2K. I recently bought a SB 5.1 and I am building a new system and wanted to use this new card. So does the same issue exsist with the 5.1 card? If so I guess I'll have to buy a Santa Cruz...

yes this is a recurring issue with owners of SB Live, via chipset mobos, and Win2K. Personally I have not had a single issue with the card and the mobo or anything else. What I would suggest is getting the Santa Cruz. From what I heard about it, it is both cheaper and supposedly better sound quality. But I guess it's personal preference.

I've got ABIT KA7 MB, SBLive!Value and Win2K - have absolutely no problems 🙂 It's a shame I know nothing about SC except the name in order to try to give my oppinion about SB<->SC

It amazes me that people still support a company that barely supports its products first of all, secondly never innovates, and thirdly likes to put companies out of business for having better products.

But speaking of better products, go for the TB Santa Cruz. Do a search and ANYONE who has made the switch couldn't be happier. THe fact you have a VIA chipset pretty much alone says you should get a TBSC instead.
