That's a crazy amount of PPD from one machine nicely done.

Did you have to buy an a new clip to fit the megahalems on socket 2011 or did they release a new version?

Prolimatech has new studs to fit socket 2011, but I've been using the ones that came with my Corsair H80. Seems to work great.

I call BS. There is no way anyone can tell the difference between a 1366 or 2011 system if both systems have same other components (RAM, SSD, etc...) and have a fresh installation of Windows on them.
I can. I write and recompile code all day long, and I can tell you. I know how long every one of my projects takes to build.

Jealousy is a large part of it I think. People tend to try and justify why they do not "need" what they cant have.
muwahaha owned! I registered on this forum just so I can dance around and say someone got owned...

My 3630k and R4E, RX360 kit, 32gb ram and HAF 932 is coming next week! I'm upgrading from an i7 920 oc@4.2, 12gb ram, H50, storm scout.

from the benchmarks I'm seeing oh I'm sure I'll be able to "feel" the difference when working with premiere and after effects, encoding time alone is gonna be super sweet! plus that ram drive.... oh man oh man!

I don't mean to turn this into a F@H thread, but...

I can see people getting crazy high PPD with these CPUs.

What's PPD, and why would SNB-E have a huge advantage over, say, Gulftown? Is AVX kicking in?
PPD = Points Per Day .. If you don't fold, it's a long story ..

I don't think SB-E would have any advantage at the same clock, unless you count power consumption ..

No, I don't enter the chimp challenge. I don't run my system 24/7 with F@H. I run it for a few hours at a time when browsing. Helps warm the house. Seriously.

The 980X I had previously did ~36,000 PPD at 4.2GHz with 12 threads non-bigadv.

I down-clocked to 4.2 just to compare, and with Project 6908 I'm showing 47.2K PPD.
I wonder if quad channel RAM gives SB-E any advantage over Gulftown ...

After completing my basic Win7 install and just making sure everything seemed to be working OK, I have found out I cannot set up RAID.

After setting SATA mode to RAID in BIOS, their are no POST options for CTRL + I or Ctrl + M for the Intel or Marvell RAID config..

Win7 will not boot with SATA set to RAID either..

I have a support ticket open and waiting on a reply.

Can't believe this board shipped with a broken BIOS like this..

Almost done with my rig. I got r4e and 3930k and rasa rx360 water cooling kit. Just waiting for my dual vertex 3 90gb to arrive tomorrow! Hopefully no problems with setting up raid 0.

Oh dear. I'm awaiting my P9X79 Pro.

What BIOS version are you using?

The latest BIOS 802.. .. I tried the original BIOS - 709 and it didn't help

I put in a support request with ASUS, and received a vague response that they were looking into it.

Chainspell,

Have you tried setting SATA mode to RAID in BIOS ?

It should invoke the Intel RAID BIOS during post, and boot into Windows without issues, even if you haven't set up RAID yet..

I'm just wondering if there are other ASUS boards besides the PRO that are having this issue.

I have decided to give Asrock a try.. Just waiting for Newegg to process my RMA ..

I'm looking into joining this club sometime next year...

As of right now, the mobo choices seem lackluster at their best. It seems to me that the Asus P9X79 WS (link below) is about the only board that offers optical audio, 8 dimm slots, dual lan and a PCI-E layout that separates dual x16 enough.

Am I missing some other board? It seems insane to me that even the 400+ boards aren't coming packed with features. For instance, why are all the EVGA boards limited to just 4 memory slots?

I type y and YouTube loads up... I type "myp" and it loads up my preferredaccount.newegg.com. muwahaha beat that with a stick...
