Thanks for the stats.

Here is a graph of the current race stats. It isn't much becuase we have only had two days. Also I had to use Open Office to make it......

I just got a cheapo 1.6GB hard drive and 6x CD-Rom. Now I can get the celery 950MHz to put in more work :). My PIII 450 will soon be online also. So my production should speed up a little. Currently I have running 24/7 a P4 1.6GHz@2.13GHz, PII 233MHz, AMD K6-2 333MHz soon to be upgraded to a 450MHz. One part time machine of my brothers that I assimilated, a celery 667MHz.

This program I can tell really takes advantage of SSE2. My P4 flat smokes all other computers hands down. Not even 10 times faster than the closest other computer. But 10 times faster.

If I can only get some cheap PC2100 for my Celery4 1.7GHz, I can then start putting out much better numbers. I also recently just got a local donation of a motherboard and Cyrix M2 333MHz. I just got a video card in for it. But alas no HD/CD-Rom for it either.
Another word has it my father is going to retire his Digital PII 300MHz computer and give it to me some time soon. All together none of those computers will put out as much work (with the possible exception of the celery4) as the 2.13GHz machine though. But it all helps out the team :).

These races ought to be started more often. Then we can turn TeamPrimeRib into TeamPrimeGrizzle :).

Insentive for new users can be a computer given to them either in hole or peices for reaching 1T. I have an XP 1800+ still waiting for me to build it a home. But I am not sure if I want to finish that computer some time soon as my wallet is starting to get thin from my heating bills for Alaska winters.
But it is just a thought. (and no, I am not going to sell that CPU. However I may give it out should enough people decide this is a good idea and we do it.)
Naturally I would be out the prize. I do not really need another computer anyway. Doing SB just gave me something to do with my old computers that i was going to retire and sell locally. Now that will be held off a while.

Speaking of which... where can I find a cheap 6 port or higher KVM switch? Or is there such a thing as a cheap one? I have all these computers, but only one 19" trinitron monitor from when they first started coming out.

Instead of using a KVM, try out TridiaVNC (i've been told this is the best version of VNC), or what I use, Remote Administrator. This will allow you to control each computer remotely. The only thing a kb/mouse/monitor will be needed for is the initial setup :)

I tried something very simalar to that once before with Linux's built in tools. I was not too happy with it. The video was choppy. Than I looked at my network packets I seen I was getting packet collisions after collisions. So I switched to a switch and that helped greatly for, but there were still a lot of collisions. I just want to go with a plain old fashioned KVM.

Hrm, I've used Radmin, and VNC, to connect to a friend's computer, and he's on a 56k modem out in the sticks, connecting at about 37k, and it was plenty fast enough to do what was needed! For just checking the status of a program, or installing one, it's been fine! Maybe you could try it before buying a KVM, as if you find it adequate for just checking, then that's some ££ you've saved for upgrades to computers ;):)
