-$87 for the cheapest 4200 on pricewatch
-i'm referring to new cards cuz you can really count on finding it for $50 as you please, when you please
-i'm sure with the release of new cards there is room for the 9600 pro to go lower

I completely agree that soon the Ti4200 will be phased out, they are getting harder and harder to find as is. I can see the FX5900 becoming the next Ti4200 if they keep producing them. I love to see 9800 Pros in the sub $150 range as well![]()

I couldnt find a 9600 Pro on PW for less than $150. In fact all I found were SEs leading up to $150 and then at 150 the 9600XT.
Currently on Newegg the only Pro is $128 (non-refurb). I dont consider refurbs to be legitimate for comparison but the refurbs have gone as low as $100 (I purchased one myself for a friend).
While on PW the 4200 128mb is $87. I've seen them refurbed for $40.
I wouldnt say the 9600 Pro will ever overtake the 4200 for price/performance. They are both probably being phased out finally, but it was wise of NV to keep production going so long as they've been able to hold this crown.
I'd say they both have their merits.. but overall I'd give the edge to the Geforce when speaking of price/performance.

The 9600 is a fluff card. Take away AA/AF, and it's no better than the GF4. Until the 9600 is within a few bucks of the GF4, GF4 is still king.

We're talking bang for your hard earned dollar here people, let's not forget that. The 9600 is more expensive than the GF4, and the only thing it brings to the table is AA/AF. Last I knew, AA/AF weren't required to enjoy a PC game. If those features are that important to you, don't buy a 9600, get at least a 9800 and be done with it.
